A bit annoyed with Munnerlyn

Our defense is completely dessimitated with injuries. There is no getting better for them this season. The seconday has been doing ok considering the front 7 is depleted.

Our safeties are the least of our worries. Munnerlyn is a good CB and probably one of the better back up CB's in the league. Yeah he's been off but I'd rather bitch about how overrated Jordan Gross is than our 3rd CB that no one expects anything out of.

I've always thought godfrey was overall pretty solid, he's had some missed assignments but I also feel like he (and martin) are often having to cover for deficiencies in the front 7.

So Reggie Wayne catches a pass, then Godfrey blows up his own teammate then Wayne runs down field and just ROFLPWNS Martin in the open field. This is covering for deficiencies in the front 7?

We have 2 starting LBs out, and 1 guy whose never played a down for us at DT.

Everyone is starting like they would be if Beason and company were still in the game.

We got beat by a piss poor Cardinals team with all of our LBs....

I'd say that falls under the "missed assignment", though I guess tackling is a bit more than an assignment.

Even great players have terrible plays sometimes, and Godfrey isn't great. But he's solid, and he does more to help than he does to hurt.

Have you been smoking Godfrey is fine.

He did lay a good pop on Butler who was covering the guy that sprinted 50 some odd yards down field for a TD yesterday! I would have to say with all the missed tackles and the fact his coverage isn't great we should look into upgrading our safety position.

Rivera obviously isn't looking towards Munnerlyn as the long-term solution, so I'm not sure why that matters as much.

As for Godfrey, it's impossible to evaluate a safety without coach's tape, because you don't see if he's making the right reads in coverage. Sure he knocked his own teammate off of a tackle, but singular plays aren't something you want to define a player with.

I dont think Rivera ever thought MUNNERLYN was a long term solution...he was just on the roster and was no.3...Richard Marshall left...no replacement...he is now the default no.2 unless Cj Wilson, or Stanford beat him out. Two guys I never want to see in a Panthers secondary again btw.

Darius Butler with a full camp will be a nice option with hogan and munnerlyn can be a 4th corner and special teams ace. i actually miss him on punt returns after seeing the confused mess that we know as Armanti Edwards.

Munnerlyn got exposed last week..he has been ok this season, just to small to be a major factor consistantly.
