Armanti Edwards

Carolina Fan

Recommended Posts

Any coherent point you were trying to make was just negated by this comment. I guess none of us can criticize any player, ever. Good to know.

On topic, I really want to like Edwards but he still looks timid and not very explosive to me. His return today was good. Perhaps with another season under his belt he'll gain more confidence and trust his instincts. I think he'll still get his shots this season and next, but from the press conferences it seems like Rivera is excited about giving Hogan a shot.

He has still yet to grow into his body, hes a hard worker and a quite guy... the kind of guy that experience really pays off for, expect big things!

There are plenty of bigger, faster, more talented players with 6-8 years experience that are available. We are keeping him on the roster because our front office is embarrassed to admit we made a huge mistake.

Never said they didn't make a mistake. But a team usually gives a player 2 or 3 years at their natural postition to make an impact before cutting a high draft choice. AE is not playing anything close to his natural position and I guess they are waiting to see if he improves in the off season this year as much as last year and then will decide during TC if he's worth cutting or keeping. Still doesn't matter though. If you like him you will support him and if you don't like the pick then you will complain until he is cut and then talk about the wasted pick for a few more years before you get over it. Not much we can do except argue about it on these boards.

It's still pretty funny though. Whenever one of these threads is started everyone already knows who will support, who will hate, and who will just chime in. Sides are pretty well drawn up.

Holy Crap, can't you guys just give it a rest? I have been reading this board for a while but never posted until now.

I am an ASU graduate and have been a panthers fan since the franchise was awarded and I have been watching football since about 1970. Played up through HS, so I know little bit about this game. Also, I am all about the Panthers making decisions to get back to a playoff caliber team.

I will be the first to admit that Armanti hasn't dazzled as a PR guy as we ASU alums have kept thinking he might.

Also, after seeing Seyi Ajirotutu get minutes at WR yesterday, the coaching staff clearly doesn't even consider him the #4 receiver at this point.

He's no Devin Hester, but he's certainly not a detriment either. If he was a detriment, he wouldn't be on the field.

I have only a few points to make and just wish people would get off the guy.

1. He has protected the ball - which btw, is the first job of the PR - I don't believe he has had a fumble in the regular season. I've seen lots of PR fumbles in the NFL this year.

2. If he doesn't show some promise as a receiver to at least get into the rotation, he will not be kept next year as simply a PR guy. And with Gettis coming back, it's not likely.

3. In my small brain, I still believe he's a QB. Maybe never an NFL QB (starter anyway), but I can totally see him succeeding as a QB in the CFL and even maybe at some point as a serviceable backup in the NFL (Flutie-ish).

All that said, he was already by the guy yesterday that got blocked in the back and it was an unnecessary penalty, so the 45 yard return was not aided by an illegal block.

Armanti might not cut it as a returner, but I would have loved to see him used more in the offense. Dont get me wrong, I dont think he would become a pro bowler or anything, but would be nice to see what he could have done if used properly in the offense. Reverses, trick plays, mountaineer package, etc...
