Armanti Edwards

with the worst special teams in the league, hes yet to fumble a punt or make stupid decisions and hes had some pretty good returns... i don't think thats sucking?

True, he hasn't fumbled in recent memory... but one big reason why we have one of the worst special teams in the league is because Armanti Edwards is our punt returner.

He had one decent return....which got called back. So..what the fug has he done other than suck?

It usually takes 6 to 8 years (high school and college) to make a decent PR. He's not doing all that bad considering he has only been doing it for just more than half a year in game conditions. He is not a PR and never has been. He still runs like an option QB, which is exactly what he is. If you think you can do so much better then walk on and try out in TC next year.

There are plenty of bigger, faster, more talented players with 6-8 years experience that are available. We are keeping him on the roster because our front office is embarrassed to admit we made a huge mistake.

Theres only a few punt returners who are dominating.

Cribbs

Jackson

Peterson

Reed?

Most teams don't use there star talent to do PR because its a dirty and dangerous job, if it wasn't smitty would still be doing it.

I'm not trying to say "it is what it is" because there is definitely room for improvement, but there aren't too many teams with explosive punt returners. For the most part nothing is good enough for this fan base. In the gameday thread people were complaining that Pilares didn't score but failed to realize that he took one all the way last week and broke off a 77 yard return today. The call that brought back Edwards' return today was bogus. This special teams unit is getting better, it just takes time.

Not that I don't agree with you, but your list is missing a pretty important PR man.

Any coherent point you were trying to make was just negated by this comment. I guess none of us can criticize any player, ever. Good to know.

On topic, I really want to like Edwards but he still looks timid and not very explosive to me. His return today was good. Perhaps with another season under his belt he'll gain more confidence and trust his instincts. I think he'll still get his shots this season and next, but from the press conferences it seems like Rivera is excited about giving Hogan a shot.
