Cam's day

Dude, YPP is whatever you want it to calculate it for. Get that through your head. It's not a set in stone measurement.

It's like saying yards per game, is a team measurement. No it can be for your team, it can be for your quarterback(your quarterback's passing yards per game, rushing yards per game, receiver's yards per game).

It's just a damn measurement. yards per point. You can use it for anything you want. Team, special teams, offense, defense, whatever...

The one that's tract typically is your scoring offense, Which is almost exactly the same as your TOTAL OFFENSE. You use TOTAL OFFENSE yards. Not TEAM OFFENSE yards.

Are you thick? Only if you used your TEAM yards would you get TEAM YPP.

No, YPP is the total yards of offense divided by total points on the board at the end of the game......It absolutely is not whatever I want it to be.

Actually I'm not posting the same thing over and over. I addressed everyone's concern. I'm calling the argument which you started stupid. And I just showed why it is.

And just cause you wanna make ignorant posts that pretend I didn't just do that, also doesn't make you right. It still happened whether you wanna open your eyes or not. Or you can continue covering them with your hands. It's not real if you don't see it, right?

What concerns have you addressed?? Go do Chicago's math and get back to me.

YPP has so many variables that go beyond your offensive unit that it isn't a reliable stat.

Again is it a coincidence that the top ten in YPP all have a minimum of 3 non-offensive TDs, majority are in the top ten in offensive starting field position, and the majority have defenses that are top ten in yards allowed per drive??

The problem is that YPP awards some teams that actually don't have very good offenses and punishes some teams that have pretty good offenses.

For Tireless Rebutter there is no such thing as a trivial dispute. He regards all challenges as barbarians at the gates. His unflagging tenacity in making his points numbs and eventually wears down the opposition. Confident that his arguments are sound, Tireless Rebutter can't understand why he is universally loathed.

Uhm no...again....that's your scoring offense's yards per point. lol That's how many yards per point your scoring offense got.

Nobody says that's the only one you have to look at. It's just the only one people care to track because the others are pointless. They don't actually show anything different.

But it is just a measurement. I swear this is like rocket science to some of you. Simple poo dude.

Does somebody force you to only look at your total offense yards after the game? You can look at your special teams, total team yards if you want. Nobody's stopping you.

This is rich....You are saying that YPP is not total yards divided by total points scored? After all this?

Sooooo just so we are clear. You believe that our offense is the 13th most efficient offense over the last 3 games?? Just to remind you that is the Tennessee game, the Detroit game, and the Indy game.

A game that we had 3 points, a game where we had 4 turnovers, and a pretty good game against Indy.

Some on here have suggested that Cam has regressed or hit the proverbial rookie wall. But by using offensive YPP it seems that our offense has improved leaps and bounds these last three games.

Doesn't make much sense does it?

Come again. This is what's funny. People making statements like this telling me I don't understand stats all day long?

What's....

passing yards per game?

rushing yards per game?

total offense yards per game?

total defense allowed yards per game?

receiving yards per game?

All of those?

No wonder you argue with me all day long. The part that's hypocritical as well as amuzing is you say poo like this, and then turn around and band together, agreeing that's true, and telling me how I don't know what I'm talking about.

Nothing wrong with that statement I posted regarding it being a measure of the offensive unit (the per game being an average)...but to humor you:

Passing yards per game is the total passing yards by the offensive unit divided by the number of games played.

Rushing yards per game is the total rushing yards by the offensive unit divided by the number of games played.

etc....

He threw some high, held on to the ball more than you'd like, but he was 20/27, 208yds; 9 rushes 53 yds, TD.

He completed 74% of his passes even with the miscues today. Good job.

He had a good day...I was proud of him. As someone pointed out...9-9 in the second half? We are going places.

You know what I think. I think you could read about yards per point, scoring offense, total offense, actual offense, for an entire year and you will never get it.

First I already answered this question for you last week. The number you are looking at is for your scoring offense yards per point. Our scoring offense was very efficient. Why? Because we had help from our special teams and defense.

What's our scoring offense again? Offense + special teams offense + defensive turnovers(good field position). Our QB's unit, was not. How do you know how bad your actual offense was?

You look at yards per point allowed for the defense, or your opponent's yards per point. I keep telling you there are TWO numbers. Which is why it's not a TEAM ypp.

This one is bad: 30th Carolina 13.3 12.3 over the past 3 games

What does this mean? This one is the opposite. Our opponents only travel 12.3 yards to score one point. Average is 15-16. The higher the number the better. So not only can we not stop them but my opponents is getting great field position on my defense.

Who affects this a lot? That's your result of your turnovers. That's why the offense is screwing over the defense. Which is why you always look at both. Offense and defense allowed, or opponent's. But these are both offensive measurements. It actually measures your opponent's efficiency.

One is your offense's efficiency with help from defensive takeaways takeaways.

The other include the impact of your offense's turnovers(all types of turnovers) and special teams defense on your defense. Or how much your offense is actually helping the other team's offense.

So yeah it makes perfect sense, because you look at both numbers. You just have to understand ypp and how it works.

One is your offense's efficiency with help from defensive takeaways takeaways. Scoring offense.

The other include the impact of your offense's inefficiency on your defense as well as special teams defense.

If there are turnovers in the game you always keep that in mind. If there are no turnovers, you don't have to worry about it. They are simply what they are.

So you are saying offensive YPP isn't an offensive efficiency stat or at least not true to the QB offensive unit's performance. So why are we arguing? That is what I have said from day one.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
