The only thing you also have to be careful with defenses such as Jacksonville or Baltimore is that these two defenses are part of run-first offenses.

baltimore is not really a run first offense anymore, or if they are, so are we. they throw the ball quite a bit more than they rush it, and we have more rushing yards, higher YPA, more rushing TDs than they do. We have very very similar run/pass ratios really. Obviously that is slanted a bit because many of Cam's runs are not designed runs, but still, Baltimore is not what I would call a run-first offense. however baltimore has also had more offensive plays and more possessions in general than we have.

here are the top rushing teams in the nfl by att/g and their ypc:

Texans 35.3, 4.3

Broncos 33.5, 4.8

Raiders 32.0, 4.7

Jaguars 31.2, 3.8

49ers 30.5, 4.2

baltimore is 23rd at 25.8 att/g with 3.8 ypc.

we are 15th at 26.7 with 5.1 ypc (we are actually #2 in YPC and pretty high in yards and TDs too)

Baltimore's defense however is losing the time of possession battle. They are still on the field more than most defenses and still allow less points, making them one of the better defenses in the league. Not to mention play calling changes depending on streak of opponents you play as well game situations. If you are down or up in a particular game.

I think you are the only person in the world that counts a safety or an INT/fumble returned for a TD as "defensive offense," and I don't think many people count special teams as "offense" strictly speaking, either. When most people refer to offense they are referring to a very specific aspect of the team... Not any time a player touches the ball and advances it forward.

I think your issue is you don't understand special teams are dedicated offensive and defensive teams and you don't grasp the concept of a SCORING offense.

And when a defensive player catches an interception, he's no longer considered playing defense. He's playing offense.

There's no such thing as non-offensive points. If a goal keeper in soccer scores a goal does that not count as part of your offense just because his main position is goal keeper?

If they are playing offense why is it called a defensive TD? When a defender sacks a QB for a safety at which point are they playing offense?

For a safety the defender doesn't even advance the ball. Would love to know how they are playing offense when a safety has to be either a sack or tackle in the backfield (both defensive stats)

If PFFL would quit calling it offensive efficiency, and blaming it on our offense and started calling it team scoring efficiency, which is what it is, people would quit bashing him and his retarded essays.

Even though he states over and over and over again how when a defense gets a turnover they are an offensive player, this is just a semantic defintion, not a literal one. PFFL is hung up on terms and refuses to acknowledge that his favorite stat takes into account many factors OUTSIDE of the ACTUAL offense. Making it a team stat, and not an offensive one.

It's not team scoring efficiency. It only uses total offense yards. If you want to know your team's scoring efficiency, go add up all the special teams yards, all the defensive interception yards to your total offense yards and you're going to come out with an embarrassingly inefficient number. Much WORSE than what it is.

It wouldn't be better. It would be worse. Our team ypp is worse. Every NFL team's ypp is worse. And it's a meaningless number. For the nth time, you have no idea what you are talking about, like most.

What you just said.....sense it doesn't make. Because, like I was trying to explain, those aren't parts of your real offense. It's just a figurative definition. Yes, there are two sides two special teams, yes when you get an interception, technically the team with the ball is trying to score making them "offensive" during the remainder of the play. BUT AT NO POINT ARE THEY PART OF YOUR TEAMS ACTUAL OFFENSE. A pick 6 is not a designed offensive play, and you trying to pass it off as such is beyond fuging retarded. It's a team statistic.
