Or you could be a practice squad player on the Detroit secondary and look decent. The secondary is never going to be perfect but at the end of the day, a strong front 7 is what makes a defense. People get too caught up in the glorified positions.

2nd how many safety have better stats? Over 50 tackles and 3int's?

Last no safety is going to look great when your front 7 sucks. Let me know 1?

Never said it was an easy play and stats mean nothing. Young guys like Donald Hayes, Keary Colbert, Ricky Manning, etc. had great stats their 1st and 2nd years, turned out they all sucked. It's all about the eyeball test and Sherrod Martin is the second-worst starter in our pitiful secondary.

Martin played very poorly today. There is no denying that. There needs to be a challenger brought in if not just for better depth.

Martin is the epitome of depth. Serviceable, but nothing special. Makes a play or two but also gives up a play or two. We need a starter brought in....might not happen this year, so he may be safe for next season and will be "reevaluated"

Last year: Godfrey is garbage, Martin is playing well.

This year: Martin is garbage, I won't talk about Godfrey and hopefully it will go away.

QB and S play always draw the ire of the most ill informed.

I understand our Safeties would look better with better front 7. But Martin's attempt to bring down Wayne looked like something from the PeeWee leagues. Remember when Rivera spoke about evaluating the tapes?......yeah, he just didn't look like he wanted to stop him.

Dam 1st it's a 1-1 situation in the open field and Reggie wayne isn't a bitch or sorry player. People act like it was D Jarret he was trying to tackle.

Reggie Wayne will make most safeties miss on a open field situation.:out:

It's not that he missed. I expected a miss, but Damn he looked so bad even trying to tackle him.

Again 2nd round 2nd Year starter learning a new defense. Is he suppose to be Ed Reed or something.

JMO I think we have solid safeties and a horrible front 7. We have bigger problems then safety play.

Again Reggie Wayne can make Pro bowl safeties look bad in the open field. Martin was in a bad situation against a great open field runner.
