Anyone want a small Start-up business??

I have a "Sand Scoop". It's made out of PVC pipe and construction screen and 6 nutes/bolts/washers. Material costs MAYBE $7 ea to make. (I'm estimating high on that.)

Anyone with a cut-off or band saw and some knowlege of PVC can make one. All the material can be purchased at Home Depot/Lowes. (Home Depot is cheaper.) You would also need a glue gun and hand drill, PVC Prep & Glue and sand paper. A couple small spring clamps would help too.

Anyone want a small business that they can work at in their spare time?

I'll buy the first dozen for $12 ea. (I'm willing to negotiate.)

I'll draw up the blueprints, and turn them over to someone. (I don't want a partner. I've done the partner route and never again!) Only thing I get in exchange is all EBay rights.

PS: the "Sand Scoop" is for digging out anything you find while metal detecting at the beach. In case you wondered.

PM me if you are interested. Thanks

It has, I agree.

But the PVC version is about a 1/3 of the cost retail, and even cheaper to build. And the PVC version doesn't interfer with a metal detector as much, giving false signals. :)

And I want to sell them in my new store I'm working on opening. Rule #1 of staying in buiness, "Buy Low-Sell High!" (Actually, it goes for stocks as well.)

I plan on offering 2 versions. One like this one with a handle, and one with a long handle so people don't have to bend down as much.

My problem is, I don't have a band saw or cut-off saw, and just don't have the time to build them.

How thick woukd the pvc be? It would have to be at least 1-1/2 in. otherwise it would be very flimsey. There are 2 popular types of pvc, "foamcore" and schedule 40. Foamcore is not as strong and would likely break with the weight of the sand.

I bet you could make a killing selling these to landlocked stated like Nebraska. Haha, jk,

Whatever plumbing PVC is. It's all plumbing hardware, tees, pipe, connectors. Small carriage bolts, 1/4" construction screen & bicycle handle grips. (I just bought 8 pairs of them for $1 a pair! Enough to do 16 scoops.) And I got 2 handles to just the small scoops.

It's not rocket science, just takes the time to cut everything, glue it up and do some sanding to knock off the rough edges.

Some similar, not exact of course, like this.

This one uses pop rivets and washers, which I like better than bolts.

As the owner of a plumbing supply store, I'd recommend purchasing your supplies from local small businesses like mine. Ninety percent of the time my prices beat the big box stores plus you support your neighbors.

Just a thought.

Also cellular or foam core pipe should be strong enough for this, you shouldn't have to buy the more expensive pressure pipe unless you're picking up a shitload of sand.
