Whats up with Delhomme's contract?

I believe it is between 5-6 mil. I don't think any is bonus. The remainder of the cap hit comes from the fact that they have restructured his deal more than once and now have backloaded it.

Exactly. Plus to answer Arsen's comment, even at 11 million that is not top 5 money since the franchise tag amount is right at 14 million which is the average of the top 5 guys. Rught now Peyton Manning will cost 21 million against the cap as the highest paid guy although it is likely to get restructured.

As you said FB he will actually get paid a little over 5 million this year.

$10,956,666 salary and he's top 10 in highest cap hits for QB's pretty much the same as last year cap hit wise. He was in the top 10 last year as well.

That includes his remaining cap hit from his signing bonus, restructured bonuses and his base salary which is 5 million and change. That is what FB and I said. The fact that it is top 10 is a cap management issue but what he will receive is less than half of that. Which is in line with middle tier guys. If he is restructured it could be as little as 7 million which doesn't make him top 10.

I meant cap hit, They actually could save up to 5 million on the season depending on how much of his bonus they disperse.

Exactly, people confuse cap hit and actually salary expense. Not the same thing peoples.

Extend his salary, extends his cap hit. Now, the debate is still out on if we should do that.

If you ask someone like carolinarolls, he would say give up the farm for Cutler. Not me.

Dehommy's contract, and I expect furture contract, will give us a chance to walk away when we find our QB of the future.

Jake's current or new contract won't break us.

I know Jake's contract isn't breaking us right now nor will his new contract, I was just pointing out how much money the team could save off of the cap this season.

You know give him an extra 10 - 12 million for two years and take his current Bonuses and prorate them through out the three years or push all of it to the last two years. Cap hit this year of lets say 6.5 maybe 7 million, next year 7 or 8 million, then the last year 9 million. That's all five million of his bonuses included in those figures plus an extra million for being extended.
