Just Bought a Fish Tank

The Saltman

Recommended Posts

don't cheap out on the filter...that's for sure.

if you are sticking with fresh water, lighting is just for looks, so don't spent alot there.

cycle the tank and make sure your water samples are good before dropping in any fish. plants can be helpful as far as maintenance of your tank goes, but not real cheap either.

alot of people say you should change alot of the water in your tank on a regular basis and I personally think it's a huge waste of time myself. I have a 55 gallon and I add fresh water when the level drops, but rarely take water out of the tank.

if you buy a decent filter and make sure you clean it on regular intervals, you should be good to go

no..im just going to put semi agressive tropicals in there.

might need some aquarium salt but thats it.

your sarcasm isn't going to help you start a saltwater tank from scratch :)

I have 100 gallon and I could definitely give you some pointers...If you change your tude

btw...cycling takes like a month..minimum

I was teasing you :)

yes! definitely don't put anything in there (except your sand and rocks)...I have a great LFS I go to to by the water..RO and Salt(already in there for you) definitely find where you can buy it that way..it's cheap and obviously all mixed in for you. Don't skimp on your filters, your lights, your skimmer..buy the best, b/c when you don't it makes it difficult in the long run. Why only 37 gall??

buy all live rocks and sand btw..don't buy the fake crap.

Also, Don't go to Fintastic..they sucka da balls!

it's an expensive hobby..to set up...once you get going you're golden. Mr.PF and I have easily put 7k in ours..who am I kidding..he's easily put that much in there :)

37 gallon was as big as I wanted to go.

I needed one with a stand and I dont have that much room for a massive tank.

its really for my daughter so we can have a couple of fish.

maybe when I have a bigger house I can get a better one but its my first so i didnt want to go too big.

thanks for the tips.
