Can't get creative and gamble when you are playing w/ practice squad and backups all over your starting roster.

Lucky if they can be where they are suppose to be on a vanilla play.

Johnson's defense was aggressive and high risk/reward. In was usually around 10th in yards and points surrendered and counted on lots of turnovers.

Here is how they ranked the last few years he coached full time before he got sick:

2007- 9th in points- 18.8- 10th in yards, 1st in fewest touchdowns surrendered- 24

2006- 14th in points surrendered, 15th in yards and 14th in touchdown surrendered with 36.

2005- 27th in points surrendered with 24.2, 23rd in yards surrendered and 27th in touchdowns surrendered with 47.

Maybe he wasn't a genius...........

In at least 2 of those 3 years Trgo has better defensive numbers, who would have figured.
