whoa

The Browns reportedly had a deal on the table Thursday afternoon that would have sent Brady Quinn to Denver.

The reported deal also involved the Redskins, presumably with Jay Cutler going to Washington and Jason Campbell headed to Cleveland. Cutler told a Denver TV station that he was headed to Washington, but the deal fell apart at the last minute. The Broncos were believed to favor Quinn over Kyle Orton.

Im just still very shocked over all this. I was listening to NFL Radio this morning and a caller offered up this as a trade proposal and the guys on the Afternoon Blitz just ripped him apart saying the Broncos would be crazy to take Orton for Cutler. Im just wondering if they are going to package some picks to move up for Sanchez or Stafford. They cant be happy with Orton and Simms being the top 2 options they have. Maybe theyll sign Rex Grossman so he can beat out Orton again. Just for laughs.

Bears 1st in 09, 1st in 10, 3rd in 09, Kyle Orton

for

Jay Cutler, Broncos 5th this year

NFL.com

They will regret trading all those picks for one player. IMO no player has ever been worth more then 1 first round.

I'm guessing those will be the same people who were ejaculating over the thought of getting Cutler in the first place.

Hey, I said this morning on another thread I thought Orton was all they needed. Now let's see what McDaniels makes of him. I think Orton's a competent starter and thought it was absolutely NUTTY of Lovie to bench him in 2005 right before the playoffs for a guy who had been hurt for most of his career and hadn't started one game all year. It isn't like RG was the established starter or anything, why not let them fight it out in TC for the starting job the next season? And Orton wasn't even as good then as he is now.

I have a feeling that many on this board will regret us not getting Cutler...but we will see.
it was never really a possibility.

we never had a chance. we were never contenders. it just wasn't going to happen.

they wanted draft picks we didn't have.

D'oh!! LOL... where did Edgar come from??

The Packers, back in the 90s (he's their RB coach now, I think)

Wonder if the Skins and Browns will now consider swapping Quinn and Campbell.
