I think there have been plenty of athletes who were diabetic. That in and of itself wouldn't be a concern IMO.

I have heard he parties pretty hard, which actually concerns me a bit more given his situation, but the neckbeard was a worldclass animal himself, so no big deal.

I think maturity will help to cure that too.

There are some pretty funny pics of both of them on drunkathlete.com or some such site. That said, I think Orton has mellowed on the partying since he got hitched, no? All the pics I have seen of O-man drinking like a champion, he was ringless.

I personally wouldn't care if the guy liked to drink a bit and have fun as long as it didn't affect his work. Now, with Cutler there are more repercussions since heavy drinking isn't good for a diabetic to do.

I dislike Cutler as well, but honestly I don't think there's a Charger fan or player I know of who doesn't hate him because of all his back and forth with Rivers among other things so I take that with a grain of salt.

True, the dislike for Cutler is pretty strong in Charger land.

All of that stuff got pushed onto Rivers' but none of it onto Cutlers plate, until recently. I would also say that because of all of that "trash talk" that Cutler made the Pro Bowl this year over Rivers, another reason the Bolt fans don't like him.

I personally can't stand him for his attitude, and the way he carries himself.

The my arm is better than elways, putting down the Chargers after they won in the last game of the year, saying that the Colts should handle those guys pretty good...etc....POS

I honestly think that Rivers didn't make the PB because he is disliked by opponents (coaches and players) as well, thus did not win their vote. How the hell else can you even explain a guy who had a year like he did not making it? It makes ZERO sense, because he far and away had the best year of any QB in the NFL. I get that overrated hacks like Favre made it because NY is a huge market and had a bunch of moronic JESTS fans voting him in, but really...Rivers doesn't get picked on merit on the first go round by the COACHES and his OPPONENTS???

There seemed to be a ton of that two years ago, but after the whole playing the Pats on a torn ACL, while LT sat with a mysterious injury, and Gates was a shadow thing, a ton of the players warmed to him.

I just think it's the old ESPN love fest with big armed QB's, hence fans love fest with big armed QB's.

And yes, if you look at the film again, you can see Cutler grabbing his crotch and telling Wilhelm and Phillips ( I think) to suck his wenis, Rivers was clearly saying atta baby to the D.....everything was totally blown out of proportion.

I thought Rivers way yelling "what a baby" or sarcastically "atta baby"@ Cutler but who knows?

I don't like Rivers much either (whining at opponents after you lose to them is immature, so is getting into verbal pissing contests with fans) but I think he is by far the better QB and teammate of the two. Pure talent isn't everything.

I am a huge Rivers fan, however I do not like the fact that he mouthed off to the Fans at all. He does seem to really enjoy the game, and gets carried away at time, but as a person, he is great.

FB, what opponents did he whine to? I honestly can't recall that one.

After the 2006 divisionals, he got in the face of Pats CB Ellis Hobbs and shrieked at him something like, "YOU'RE THE SORRIEST CORNER IN THE LEAGUE! ACT LIKE YOU WON SOMETHING BEFORE!" I wish the vid was still on youtube but it isn't. I also lost a lot of respect I had for LdT as a person and I used to really like him, but I digress.

He yelled at the SD crowd (vs. Balt I think) to SHUT UP when they were booing the Chargers going 3 & out.

I am sure there are a few other examples, but you get the idea.

Now, here's my thing: #1...Rivers wasn't even the starting QB of that team when all the bad ish started between them and was more a result of Wade P's and D. Florence's big mouths in 2005 after they whooped the Pats easily. #2, when that jackazz Merriman (UGH he reminds me totally of Mark Gastineau who is the first NFL player I can remember loathing) wants to have his little dance and his team loses, no one has a right to complain about that dance being thrown back in their face (which is what Hobbs and Colvin were doing that pissed Rivers off, imitating that spastic dance). Hines Ward did it to Philly with the Eagle flap TO always did after TDs when the Steelers beat Philly in 2004. You know what I thought? I thought, "RIGHT ON, HINES!" Point being, had Rivers screamed that in Hobbs' face if the Chargers had won and Hobbs did that, I would have understood his doing that even if I didn't agree with the whole thing. And I would not be on Hobbs' side one bit had he done it after a loss. Or if Hobbs did some dumbazz dance on their logo that was something of HIS. Yes it was a bit childish to "retaliate" in that way, no doubt, but it was a retaliation on their part, not them starting something. It's kind of the same thing to me when a guy punches another one and the ref flags only the retaliator. The guy who did it first is the main offender, but the second guy isn't 100 innocent even though I back the second guy 100% on his impulse to retaliate.

Bottom line, I don't think Rivers is a bad guy or anything at all, he's just a bit immature/too thin skinned on the field. I don't think it's bad for him to be hyper etc. either...it's just that carries over sometimes in ways I don't think is appropriate of a leader to act. And I don't hold it against him at all if he was responding to Cutler dissing HIS team or his guys, I think it's fine (makes me wonder why he was so pissed at Hobbs for doing the same thing though). And he is definitely a guy whose football accomplishments and toughness I respect. And I think he is a very good teammate. I have never heard him badmouth a teammate, ever.
