Cam hasn't taken a step back

YPP is a cheat for recreational sports bettors. It is important to people who are addicted to parlays and need a third or fourth or fifth (etc) game to pick. It's about as reliable as any other system out there (crap shoot)

For a fan to brag about this is kind of dumb because it is used against the spread or to pick over under, not how good your team is or how well they are actually playing.

Again, its a cheat for betting and even some in Fantasy. For everyone looking at this as yards per play instead of yards per point ask trudat to clarify. I did and got no response.

I have never heard a commentator, analyst, coach, or NFL-affiliated pundit talk about yards per point. That's because everyone has heard of Pete Rose.

It's not a cheat. LMFAO.

It's your team's scoring efficiency ratio. It measure offensive efficiency. Is a quarterback rating a cheat? That's a QB's passing efficiency ratio. It is your quarterback's YPP! The total offense yards statistic on NFL.com is your offense's YPG, yards per game. The total yards defense ranking on NFL.com is your combined opponents offense yards YPG(or yards per game, usually the same as yards per play)against your defense. Or yards allowed YPP. Also known as YPG(yards per game) Every meaningful NFL stat you can get your hands on is some type of YPP or YPG or YPA(attempt) or YPC(catch, completion) or PPG(points per game).

YPP is the most reliable NFL stat to measure the overall POWER RANKING of a team's scoring offense: It is used not just by bettors, but all football fans, sports writers, college kids and everyone that isn't ignorant when it comes to football and stats, because it is the most important NFL stat as well as a reliable predictor and it offers the best correlation to winning as well as as winning records. It's also the best tool to measure the reality of what happened on a football field. There's also points differential, but it's not as accurate.

For a fan to talk football and not know which one of the stats is the most important one of all is pretty retarded if you ask me. You might as well not even bother talking football. YPP = win/loss

99% of the time the more efficient scoring offense wins the football game.

If it's the team scoring efficiency ratio then it doesn't measure offensive efficiency. Team scoring efficiency includes defense and special teams, offense efficiency does not

So then you do agree that our offense was extremely efficient yesterday since they had a YPP of 11.7?? For us having a YPP yesterday that would put us right at the top of the league you sure have been complaining about our offense a lot. Do you not agree that 11.7 YPP is a good YPP??

And yes a lot of people do use YPP. Just not as an offensive efficiency stat and definitely not to evaluate an offense.

Cam isn't improving his 4th quarter play.

Jake Delhomme was usually playing his best in the 4th quarter.

I think he's still transitioning to pro-level competition and conditioning.

Folks tend to think he's Superman as an athlete, but the pro game is worlds different from college and, even now, I see Newton showing signs of fatigue as the game goes on. It's not as bad as it was at the beginning of the season mind you, but it's still there.

Not unusual for a rookie QB. Next season, after a full year as a pro and an offseason of pro-level conditioning, I think he'll be fine.

didnt read that many post just the front page so i could be repeating, but i think its a combo of teams game planning for him and that he is just hitting a rookie wall. the obvious answer is that yes cam is facing defenses that are now being talored to his abilities and unlike earlier games they have game tape. but i think a more subtle reason is the mere fact that cam is a rookie. that can mean number of things but one main thing i think it means is that cam isnt use to playing these games. right now in college they would be close to ending there scheduel with 3 weeks left or if u factor in preseason games just for fun they would be in bowl games. but next year im hoping cam can just keep progressing thats just my opinion

Yeah I know. That is because he knows it blows up his whole argument.

My guess is he will now try to do some voodoo math or start putting qualifiers in to try and salvage his debunked point.

Anyone with a brain can see YPP doesn't hold up to real life.
