Cam hasn't taken a step back

It shows how perceptions changed. I really think a lot of people expected to be utilizing a run heavy The Golden Calf of Bristol Time type offense with Newton but now that he's proven that he can chuck it and be an enormous threat throwing the ball his detractor(s) is/are literally bitching that he's not Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees.

I mean seriously if you bring up 'lol 1-8 on GW drives' as an argument then you have to ask yourself why the poo you're asking your rookie quarterback for last minute heroics in 9 games.

Correct, teams are figuring out that the biggest challenge you can present Cam with right now is to drop 7 or 8 men back into coverage instead of putting 7 or 8 in the box and blitzing him.

Cam will adjust to it eventually, and you can see how much more effective our running game has been as a result. We need to continue to lean on our running game (and Cam's ability to run) while Cam continues to learn how to read coverage.

Exactly, he's being held up in comparison to the best in the league... that tells you something.

Is this thread devoted to obsessing about alts and neg repping people who don't tow the line?

Cam has played slightly worse recently. I don't know if he has regressed but his accuracy hasn't been as great as it was at one point in the season - although he still throws some amazing balls.

I'm not worried about Cam though. Still looks like the franchise QB we wanted.

Coaching and defense are what I am watching.

Look at Bush and their backs production the past several games. Matt needing to lean on athletes to be servicable is a big reason hes never played 16 games. I dont think hes capable. And that is what TRD wanted us to build around and invest in long term. LMAO.

There RBs had like 90 yards yesterday for 3 yards a carry and 1 TD. The game before they had 87 yards on 2.9 yards a carry, though Bush did have two TDs. Moore clearly isn't an elite QB but the RBs aren't carrying him like you make it seem

Cam has overthrown some receivers lately, but he's had that issue some from day 1... I don't see how people are saying he's playing bad... last week our O line just got destroyed... it's kinda hard to play QB when 4 giant guys are in your face all game.

Cam hasn't gotten a ton of help here... our running game has been up and down, it was much better yesterday, but I think a lot of that was because the Lions struggle vs the run. Some of that is on Chud too for not sticking with the run a little more than he did.

Some people are gonna hate on Cam just because... maybe KT is right, and it does have some racial component to it... if that's the case it's just sad.

idgaf what anybody says... without Cam we would probably be 0-10 like the Colts and not have even come close in any of the games... our defense is pathetic and until yesterday we literally had no STs, and then we've got all kinds of penalties, which are mental discipline issues, and guys like Steve Smith dropping passes that hit them in the hands... and I'm not blaming Smith, it happens, but it hurts.

Think about this... what would this team be like right now if Clausen was the starting QB?

TRD. The others are PFFL aand his minions. The white knights of the KoolAid party I said would arise if we drafted Cameron. Theyre here to cause confusion and convince us how foolish we are to believe in a black person at QB. None of the other rookie QBs have this problem within their fanbase.

I have minions now?

Your observation as well as definition of a troll are about as accurate as your observation of our team and what defines good playing by our offense or defense. Not very good at either.

1. TRD has his account back.

2. When you just look at the score at the end of the game, it tells you nothing. When you look at how they got them, and where, and how, drive by drive, it tells a completely different story.

3. And that goes for your observation of other fan forums. I've been to the Broncos forums. The majority there can see The Golden Calf of Bristol is no Elway and have a problem with anyone who says that. Most can see he's good at winning games, but a pretty bad passer and they don't have a problem talking about it.

This fanbase has a hard time being objective or seeing the game from both sides of the team: Defense/offense. Etc. It blames everything on the defense, at the excuse of the quarterback, while not noticing the good things the defense does to help the offense, and the bad things the offense does to put the defense in a bad position. This is a quarterback and offense biased forum. Only sees one side. Got a lot of growing up to do. Just like Cam Newton. It doesn't understand yet that an offense can make or break a defense more so than a defense can make or break an offense. That's why you have losing teams with awesome defense/bad offense and winning teams with poor defense/great offense. It only goes one way in that department.

And to someone that understands this it actually looks like all you guys do is troll the defense all day long.

Cam literally hasnt given his haters a lot to work with. Now they ironically are using The Golden Calf of Bristol of all QBs to slight him. I think the fact he came in and worked his tail off on some humble poo has earned him trust and respect from the fans. Seeing fans stand behind our guy when we lose or struggle says alot. The future is still bright, and i still say despite 2-8 this is a special time in Pantherland.

The rest of the league has caught up to him. He now has over half a season of game tape out there.

Opponents can study his strengths

Opponents can study his weaknesses

Opponents can study his tendencies

So lets stop this "cam is regressing" horse dung. Cam is not regressing. Despite defensive coordinators now game planning for him (by the way, who was the last Panthers QB a defense had to completely game plan around....I'll wait), Cam continues to put up the cheese and do more than enough to win games in this league (provided a Panthers defense that is actual NFL quality).

So the next time you hear about "Cam is regressing, Cam is losing it, etc" Just slap that idiot in the face and hope Pavlovian conditioning takes hold.

Love,

Zod

Those who sit there a have the nerves to claim Cam is regressing don't give a damn about him and only see him as an end to a means. As far as they are concerned Cam is someone they will tollerate only because. Those are the same folks who are quick to give credit any little accomplishment the rest of the team achieve but when Cam accomplishes a feat, those folks will be the first ones to point out something negative that he did.

How could anyone find fault with a rookie who has been doing what Cam is doing with or without his mistakes. The fugging kid goes out every Sunday and tries to carry a team but it's clear that there is only a small minority on this team that SERIOUSLY wants to win. Since the beginning of this season this team has found more ways to lose than I ever thought existed. Yesterday was no exception.

It's clear there is a level of complacency that is making every Sunday game lose look like Groundhog Day. I guess this team must feel they are so GREAT with Cam that the rest of the team don't need to show up nor do they need to watch game-tapes of their opponents. Having the Lions erase a 24-7 deficit in the mid-third qrt when everyone knows the Lions enjoy coming from behind isn't acceptable. For anyone to sit and feel that Cam has to keep putting up numbers to help the weak ass defense who keeps giving them away is sad. Why don't these same folks demand that the defense start earning their damn paychecks.

Where is the demand for this team to step up their game around Cam like there is for Sam Bradford, The Golden Calf of Bristol and Blaine Gabbert?

I didn't visit here yesterday hoping that all the ignorant ranting and whining would subside but unfortunately it didn't.

Cam didn't regress because every week is a brand new experience for him against new coordinators who he hasn't played against. So he will be given looks that will be completely new for him. So for him regress he would have to play worse than he did against a team earlier. Since he has never played Detroit in Detroit how exactly could he possibly regress. Even when he plays division teams it will still be home and away scenarios. So lets shelve the ignorant regression talk until next year which is the first time it could even be relevant.

As for him playing poor, that isn't really true either. He did some good things and put up points in the first half, had some good runs, some great screens and generally did what it took to gain a lead. Even in the fourth quarter he brought us back for a tying score which is exactly what people said he couldn't do. Anyone who thinks the last 2 interceptions were issues needs to understand football. Expecting him to rally twice in the fourth quarter and score again with 2 minutes on the clock is unrealistic at best. If the defense had even been ok in the second half we could have won this game. 35 points in 2 quarters has to be the worse defensive performance ever. I doubt anyone could have won this game for us let alone a rookie.

The lack of football acumen on this board put us in the same boat as Atlanta and the Saints boards which frankly is a bad thing.

P55, my problem is the lack of balance. I love that we're aggressive and an attacking offense, but attacking doesn't always mean we have to pass either.

We were up 17 on them at one point yesterday, and being that our defense got away with 3 turnovers somehow to start the game, we should've worked the clock from the 1st quarter on and took our shots in between.

I looked at the Saints stats from their 62-burger they put on the Colts because they are an attacking/vertical style offense as well - but what makes them so good is their balance...

They had a total of 36 first downs that game, 16 by rushing, 19 by passing. Balance.

They had 38 rushes to Brees' 35 passes, of which he completed 31 of them. Balance.

They had 38 mins in TOP, also suggests balance and a good rhythm to the playcalling.

We had the benefit of 3 TOs and a KO return early in the game, had a 17 point lead and this is what we looked like:

We had 24 first downs, 7 by rushing, 12 by passing.

26 total rushes, including Cam's runs and sacks to Cam's 38 passes. And as has been mentioned all over the forum since yesterday, DLo was running great and averaging 7+ YPC. 38 passes, and again, we were up by 17 at one point.

And we had 26 minutes of TOP.

I'm not saying we should've walked all over Detroit's defense like they were the Colts, but what I am saying is with a 17 point lead, using a well balanced offense, we could've scored more than what we did yesterday and limited our defense chances to screw it up.

There was no excuse for Cam having to throw 38 times yesterday, which translates into the lack of TOP, which then puts our defense on the field more and they can't get themselves off of it until the other team scores.

I think you misread my post. I said the Lions, not us, had the 6th best pass defense in the NFL. I don't even know where ours ranked. That's why Cam looked bad. We faced a good pass defense.

And some of you still have this hard time getting the concept of points off turnovers and field position: 7.

Both teams blew it. Lions offense blew it in the first half. Ours blew it in the second. All defenses get scored on when you have that many turnovers or have to defend from bad field positions. There is a reason why each turnover is calculated to be 3.8 points at the 50 yard line. It's not some number they came up with. They took all points in the history of the NFL off turnovers and that's how many an average offense scores against an average defense. It's 4.5 if you turn it over in the end zone. So you should expect two high powered offenses to put up over 60 points when you have 7 turnovers and 2 scores from the special teams. You should expect 54 points just off the turnovers and special teams scores between the two teams. This is normal. It happens to just about every defense in the NFL when they face high powered offenses. When it doesn't happen, it's something out of the ordinary.

This was one of our offense's best performances of the year :)
