Why do you guys hate Byron Bell so much?

Only a few of us really dislike Bell. Most realize he is a just a rookie learning his position.

Not sure I want Kalil. Recent USC star players haven't worked out well for us, or for the rest of the league for that matter.

This statement makes me  so hard since we have one of the best centers in the league from....wait where's he from again....

Yeah, Hangman was atrocious yesterday:

Don’t look back in anger

In spite of his vulnerability to trap blocks, exposed at times again in this game, not many people look back fondly or relish a rematch with Ndamukong Suh. It seems unlikely that Geoff Hangartner (-7.6) will be swift to raise his hand for another go round. Hangartner did not make a positive block on Suh, or Nick Fairley, for the entire game yet yielded six pressures to the two defensive tackles as well as a crucial hit on Cam Newton to Suh at 2:48 in the third quarter. The hit forced a hurried throw from Newton which was intercepted by DeAndre Levy, ending a potential scoring drive with the Lions’ lead only a slender point at that stage.

I don't hate him. He's great depth and he has certainly earned a roster spot.

I'm just not ready to pass on Matt Kalil because of him.

exactly. he shouldn't be starting, but he does well enough for me to feel good about him as depth.

no way should we pass on kalil for him if he's available.

no way should we act as if RT is set because of bell.

I don't dislike Bell. But every week someone comes on here and tells us what great potential he has. And how he's playing good. The fact is, he's not playing good. Since he has started, the Panthers have completely changed their offense to protect his side because his run and pass blocking are sub par. Will he be good some day? Maybe. But I'm not sure how much upside a undrafted FA like him really has. He's is consistently the weakest link in the o-line.

hangartner shouldn't be starting either. he's good depth.

we need schwartz back.

The more I think of this line the more I think Drafting Kalil and moving Otah to G would make a whole lot of since. IDK if he could ever transition like Wharton did but he def would be one hell of a G. A year to sit on the bench and learn and get healthy may be the best thing we can do with Otah. That is if his hart is even in the game anymore.

I'd agree that Hangartner and Bell should both be kept as backups. I'm not as sold on Schwartz starting as you are, but I believe he should be kept too. Otah? Much as I like him when he's healthy, I think that ship has sailed.

I want to see two new starters on the right side of the line next year.

schwartz > hangman, imo

if we can upgrade RT & RG, though, i'm all for it.

OT in draft (ideally kalil) and best RG in FA....jump on it.

rest of the offseason needs to big time focus on getting defense healthy and stocked with talent.

just a wild thought on RG...carl nicks is a free agent after the season. he's only 26 so he would/could be around for a long time.

they just signed jahri evans a seven-year, $56.7mil contract in '10 and i'm not sure they would be willing to give up that much money again to another guard.

wishful thinking.
