Truth Is: The Defense Is Horrible. Chud and Cam Are Regressing.

let's get real about this. real and painful about the facts. newton isn't as good as we think. he has a TON of talent around him and STILL can't win.

let's look at this:

3 pro-bowl targets (shockey, smith, olsen - yep olsen was selected as an alternate). check

2 great running backs who were called the two headed monster? check.

offense built around me? check?

still can't win, but points to the number 1 on my chest all the time? check.

if cam can't win with THIS offense, he would never last with dalton's talent black hole, or even The Golden Calf of Bristol's/

face it. newton has so much talent built around him that the panthers will be OVER the salary cap next year and have to jettison some. if he can't win now, forget later when he loses some of his safety net

Only offense matters in the NFL. Got it.

Cam is the anti-The Golden Calf of Bristol. Great for 55 minutes, can't finish it late. If only we could put The Golden Calf of Bristol in with 5 minutes left in the game, we'd only have 1 loss right now!

That's what happens when you play from behind. It's not a new phenomenon. It happens to a lot of QB's who are forced to score 7 points instead of run the clock out or play for a field goal.

say what you want but Chud is regressing and consequently so is Cam. I'll go easy on Cam for a couple of reasons - First, he's being in a position to fail because of Chud's playcalling. Be honest, that 35 points today had very little to do with a dominant offense... We got lucky with 3 early turnovers and a KO return. Realistically, if our offense was that awesome, we should've had a lot more points than we had in the first half.

I agree with this almost 100%. First I want to say that I believe we could have scored 35 and won buy 2 TDs without our defense playing any better. How you say? Well, taking fugging time off the clock so our defense is no out there enough to fug up. We cannot get into a shootout with anyone. Our D just sucks too bad to do so.

Now to Chud. Chud has not regressed per se, rather opposing teams have figured him out. Chud just can't stand the thought of a sustained drive or running the ball or moving the chains. Almost every play to him has to be a fugging homerun. This is causing Cam to force into a covered field. Chud had got in Cams head that a check down is a bad play. Lets face it. Teams have figured Chud out, not Cam. When we ran today (other than up the middle poo) we ran well. Same for the screen passes but teams know that Chud will not sit there and take what is given to him. He can't. He is Mike Martz 2.0 and untill he learns that running the ball /screen passes / etc are just fine we will contiue to see what looks like Cam regressing.

The defense doesn't even have to be discussed. 35 points is plenty enough points to beat a team on any given Sunday... Unless the team scoring 35 points has the Carolina Panthers' defense. They are obviously f*cking horrible and I'm tired of seeing people discussing which offensive players should be our first pick in the draft... They shouldn't be. The first pick should be a defender. Most likely, every pick after that should be defense as bad as we are.

Secondly, say what you want but Chud is regressing and consequently so is Cam.

The other reason to go easy on Cam is because, duh, he's a rookie. But, he's shown at times that he doesn't play like a rookie. Today though, the stuff we saw was all rookie... He was overthrowing and forcing things that weren't there. The overthrows had a lot to do with poor snaps from Kalil; the forced throws I think are attributable to the Titans loss knocking his confidence a little bit and secondly, teams now know how to play our offense.

They have 10 weeks worth of tape on us now and the last two weeks have been our worst showings. Why? Because, now they know to create pressure with the front four and drop 7 into coverage. At times last week, the Titans were even dropping 8 into coverage.

This goes back to Chud. I understand we're a vertical passing team, but there is a little something called adjustments, and Chud isn't making them. Deangelo should've had over 100 yards rushing today. Instead, he broke a few nice gains and Chud was content with that and felt it was enough for the defense to respect and went right back to forcing the pass.

Problem is, again, defenses are now playing the pass. The passes Cam made today were into some very tight windows aside from the flats and screens. It's because teams are playing the pass now as the priority. Chud should mix up some heavy sets and power runs, but he doesn't. Even the runs we've broke for big gains have been out of cute little 1 back 1 TE sets.

Teams don't respect our run anymore and are happy to allow Cam to pass. The INTs are a result of nothing being there. Period. Even the Smitty TD was in an extremely tight window. Chud has to make adjustments or it's going to be a very ugly finish this last 6 games.

Just some observations... I'm at peace with this being a lost season now and just looking for improvements now and what we can do for next year as sad as it is.

Did u watch the game with the Broncos and the Jets? All The Golden Calf of Bristol needed to do was get a td and the game was theirs. He didn't need to throw lights out. He barely needed to throw...Unfortunately every week Cam is put in that position where he has to throw lights out to win a games. EVERY FUGGING WEEK WE'RE TALKING ABOUT how Cam is playing while ignoring the fact that offense don't win games defense DO. Cam should afford to regress a bit and the Panthers should still win but it doesn't seem to matter how Cam plays, the Panther still sucks.

with THIS defense, there is not one fugging QB in the league that could win running the offense gameplan we have been running. When you have a high powered offense that can put up big numbers, that team is only good if their defense can actually stop that other team at all. If the D can't stop the other team then the fugging staff needs to shorten the game with sustained drives, something this coaching staff has not a clue how to do.

Cam teased some of us with his debut. Despite what anyone thought, hes a rookie. The kid is still very talented and with more experience he'll get a handle on the turnovers.

Chud did him little favors though. When we were still up, he called for long bombs down the field, why? DeAngleo and Stewart BEASTED the entire game, yet you feed your rookie to the wolves with a lead? I don't like Fox ball, but some of that is common sense.

Even when we were 1 point down with 12 minutes left in the 4th...more long bombs. That isn't smart football.

And the defense is horrible, so is the personnel (at large.)

I don't think Cam fooled anyone. I stated from the first Sunday Cam got his 400 plus yds that if this team doesn't step up and help Cam, he will slowly regress. It has got to be demoralizing that no matter what u do, ur team can't seem to help u get a win.

Asking a rookie QB to put up 30 plus points every single week playing against different defense is a lot to ask for. Especially when u sit there and watch ur defense give up 30 plus point every fugging week.

I am so fustrated at this team and this is not even my damn team. How the heck can this team allow a fuggin back-up RB from the Lions to scorch their asses.

Keep focusing all of ur attention on Cam and see where that gets this team. Rivera needs to stop trying to turn Cam into Superman and start turning the rest of the team into fuggin players.

The fugging Dolphines won by 35 and the Panthers need more than that to win...Like WTF

High throws were due to not being able to plant his front foot and follow through. Not regressing, just not a good team.

Hmmm. One of those throws had Suh bench pressing Cam before the ball was barely out of his hand. If that was Tom Brady the whistle would have been blown on Suh.

BTW, where the fug was the o-line? Why was Suh able to get to Cam so easily. I really doubt Cam would have thrown a ball that had nothing but Lions there to catch it. But it's clear some of u saw it differently.

Does anyone think our OLINE is worth a crap ? Safeties can't tackle, LB's decimated with injuries (our supposed strength), GM with below average drafting history, new coaching staff, rookie DT's, one good DB etc. Our alleged talent is way overrated except at the offensive skill positions and LB (prior to injuries).

There are so many issues besides rookie Newton. Coaching staff is realizing what a crapfest of talent was inherited from the Hurney/Fox debacle. I have my doubts about the coaching on all levels at this point. However, I am glad Fox is gone, and I am willing to see what happens next year with personnel changes and a chance for Rivera and company to prepare in a non lockout year. Unfortunately, I am skeptical about what Hurney will do in the draft or free agency.

At least, I am not watching Pickles have checkdown passes batted down while Fox claps and chews on gum like a methhead grinds his teeth.
