Can the Panthers afford to go Offense with their 1st pick in the Draft?

I believe Otah will be back and healthy next year, fingers crossed, but when he's healthy he's one of the best in the game. Look how good the OL was in '08 when we drafted Otah. Image Kalil, Kalil, Gross, and Otah on the line. That would be sick

Otah can't play guard.

there are no OTs in FA that are anywhere near the quality of kalil. there rarely is and if they are, the cost is waaaaay to high.

we don't pass up on a guy like him if the need is there.

if kalil isn't there, then we trade down.seriously?

Kalil is, barely, the top tackle prospect in this year's class. You seem to have this misconception that he is a once a decade can't miss prospect. Truth is, if given the choice of him or other tackles taken in the top five over the last ten years, Kalil would be near the bottom. I understand you are enamored with him because of his last name, which is fine, but when it comes down to it, he's a good prospect-nothing more. If you think the OL was at fault for today's performance, then I'm disappointed in you. I expect better from you. I don't know how much time you expect them to give our QB, but he certainly had enough most of the time today.

guys the '09-'10 offseasons made the biggest drought in talent infusion. no new superstar talent was added, not through the draft or through free agency. Without Cam this team would be blown out in every single game. We are feeling the effects of it today.

There are needs everywhere, so filling the roster with the best talent on the board (could possibly be kalil if we're high enough) is the best way to go this year.

all otah's going to do if he comes back is hurt his knee again

same with davis

they're both done and we're better off cutting our losses at this point.

The Redskins will want a QB, as well as the Seahawks. (Pete Carroll did recruit Barkley...)

I don't know if they would trade up, but, it's very possible.

But, I'd rather us take a true player instead of some mid-round dude who has attitude problems or isn't going to make an immediate impact on the team.

Kalil is a Joe Thomas/Jake Long type talent. A guy that could, in his rookie year, force Gross over to RT.

The gap in talent between Kalil and any defensive player is HUGE. I don't want to trade down just for an extra 2nd and take a guy MUCH less talented. The best teams in the NFL ALWAYS take the BPA, and if Kalil is available, he is the best non quarterback player available and I'm not sure it's very close.

Claiborne is right behind Kalil as a prospect actually.

Its like people on this board don't want Claiborne to exist. By year two hes likely to be our best defensive player if we draft him.

Do you guys screaming to trade down have a realistic scenario or are you basically underpants gnomes with the details?

obviously trade down to select the insanely underrated *insert UNC player* who will be the biggest steal of the draft

I mean I know there are no DT's worthy of a top 10 pick so trading down may be smart if they really want to fill that big need, but I hate the idea of passing on a guy like kalil for an inferior talent because it fills a bigger need
