No, he was put in a position to succeed by the defense with 3 turnovers in the first quarter and a special teams score for 7.

Defense only started getting scored on when the offense started getting shut down in the 3rd quarter. You can't blow turnover opportunities in the red-zone in the NFL. They gave this O great chances. You get at least 3 points. And then threw another pick in the 3rd quarter when we could have gone up by 7.

1st and 10 at DET 17 M.Stafford pass incomplete deep right to C.Johnson (C.Godfrey).

2nd and 10 at DET 17 (Shotgun) M.Stafford pass incomplete deep left to T.Scheffler.

Timeout #1 by DET at 14:41.

3rd and 10 at DET 17 (Shotgun) M.Stafford pass short right intended for T.Young INTERCEPTED by J.Anderson at DET 27. J.Anderson to DET 27 for no gain (T.Scheffler).

DRIVE TOTALS: CAR 0, DET 0, 2 plays, -10 yards, 0:25 elapsed

Carolina Panthers at 14:35 CAR DET

1st and 10 at DET 27 D.Williams up the middle to DET 25 for 2 yards (K.Vanden Bosch).

2nd and 8 at DET 25 C.Newton pass incomplete short left to S.Smith (E.Wright).

3rd and 8 at DET 25 (Shotgun) C.Newton pass short left intended for G.Olsen INTERCEPTED by E.Wright at DET 12. E.Wright pushed ob at DET 20 for 8 yards (S.Smith).

That's 3 free points guaranteed if you just take the FG kick.

2nd and 5 at DET 26 C.Newton pass short left intended for G.Olsen INTERCEPTED by D.Levy [N.Suh] at DET 14. D.Levy to DET 21 for 7 yards (L.Naanee).

Again 3 points guaranteed if you just kick a FG. You cannot win games like that. And your defense will get scored on when you play like this in the 3rd quarter. Back to back 3 and outs.

1st and 10 at CAR 20 (Shotgun) C.Newton pass short left to S.Smith pushed ob at CAR 27 for 7 yards (E.Wright).

2nd and 3 at CAR 27 D.Williams right tackle to CAR 33 for 6 yards (K.Vanden Bosch).

1st and 10 at CAR 33 C.Newton scrambles right end ran ob at CAR 33 for no gain (J.Durant). PENALTY on CAR-J.Gross, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at CAR 33 - No Play. Penalty on CAR-L.Naanee, Illegal Motion, declined.

1st and 20 at CAR 23 J.Stewart left end to CAR 28 for 5 yards (C.Avril; N.Suh).

2nd and 15 at CAR 28 (Shotgun) C.Newton pass short right to S.Smith to CAR 28 for no gain (E.Wright).

1st and 10 at CAR 25 D.Williams left tackle to CAR 26 for 1 yard (L.Delmas; N.Suh).

2nd and 9 at CAR 26 (Shotgun) C.Newton pass incomplete short middle to G.Olsen.

3rd and 9 at CAR 26 (Shotgun) C.Newton pass incomplete deep left to S.Smith.

4th and 9 at CAR 26 J.Baker punts 49 yards to DET 25, Center-J.Jansen. S.Logan to DET 34 for 9 yards (E.Norwood).

Defense sucked in the second half, no question. But the offense was bad all day long. At least get a first down so your punter can pin them back in their own territory. What we ask our defense to do, we need to give them the same opportunity. We can't give an efficient offense like the Lions great field position by going 3 and out like that.

let's get real about this. real and painful about the facts. newton isn't as good as we think. he has a TON of talent around him and STILL can't win.

let's look at this:

3 pro-bowl targets (shockey, smith, olsen - yep olsen was selected as an alternate). check

2 great running backs who were called the two headed monster? check.

offense built around me? check?

still can't win, but points to the number 1 on my chest all the time? check.

if cam can't win with THIS offense, he would never last with dalton's talent black hole, or even The Golden Calf of Bristol's/

face it. newton has so much talent built around him that the panthers will be OVER the salary cap next year and have to jettison some. if he can't win now, forget later when he loses some of his safety net

You do realize this defense has gave up 30 points a game all year right? Waiting on them to play decent for change to throw blame back on the offense is pathetic, but whatever keep trying.

True Dat, save yourself the research, the offense played bad???? what are you smoking?

Cam Newton played bad. Yeah. Absolutely.

Newton 22/38 280 7.4 1 4 50.2

Did you see who our main receiver was today?

Stewart 6 87 14.5 0 26 6

Seriously? Johnathan Stewart? He's a damn running back! If Smith gets shut down Cam Newton's passing goes to hell. This is exactly what the Titans did and we learned nothing. The Lions did it again today.

And most of those were not passes through the air. That was Stewart rushing for those yards.

The Golden Calf of Bristol may not complete a pass but at least he doesnt throw interceptions

Yeah, and the Broncos aren't giving away the game every week either. Unlike the Panthers' defense, they learn that it's the offense job to score and it's their job to HOLD OFF the opposing team's offense. Tim doesn't worry to much about his defense putting every fugging game out of reach week in and out so he doesn't need to throw bombs like Cam. Hence, his interceptions are at a mimimum.

Dude, seriously, and I mean this-someone who creates numerous alts and PI's themselves and has a conversation with themselves has some serious issues. Counseling would be a good thing to look into. Seriously.

Who are you talking to man? You guys are losing it. You have bought into this entire Newton mania you think every poster that speaks some reality is me.

You guys were saying the same thing about Declear or whatever his names was. I only have this user name. I only use one. I only change them when I get banned. Notice mine's always in the red?

You do realize the defense is the problem or you're in some sort of denial....the defense is awful. The offense could've been better but understanding the REAL problem is the first step towards fixing anything. And no, Cam did not play bad, he tried to make sugar out of sh!t at the end of the game.

The only reason why u would think ur offense sucked all day is simply because u have set the bar for ur defense two seconds off the ground while feeling that everytime the fugging offense touch the ball they should get a TD...Wake the fug up. OFFENSE SCORE AND FROM WHAT I SAW 27-14 WAS WAY MORE THEN ENOUGH TO WIN A FUGGING GAME BUT IF THE DEFENSE HAD HELD OFF THE LIONS FOR MORE THAN JUST 3 QRTS. BUT I GUESS NOT TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE THE OFFENSE SHOULD OVER COMPENSATE FOR THis teams WEAK ASS DEFENSE.

Dude the defense played bad int the second half, no one's saying they didn't. But that's also exactly when the offense stopped playing. But the played great in the first half of the game and so did the special teams. The offense played like poo all day.

And if you didn't think that was also awful quarterback play so do you man.

Newton 22/38 280 7.4 1 4 50.2

Stafford 28/36 335 9.3 5 2 121.9

If you can take a look at those numbers and tell me that's great for a quarterback, you're the one in major denial. And if you don't believe QB play means anything when it comes to winning a football game you're out of your mind.

How often do you see an NFL team win with a QB numbers that look like that?
