DAMN YOU CAM NEWTON!! (for allowing the lions to score 7 TDs)

I think it was pretty clear that Detroit could score touchdowns from any starting point on the field, therefore an interception is exactly the same as a punt.

Except they didn't. They got 14 off turnovers and good field position and 7 from special teams: 21 points. Our offense only scored 10 points not counting turnovers or great field position. Why the do you expect our defense to stop scores from happening when we turn over the ball in the red-zone but you don't expect the offense to score when our defense gets them turnovers in red zone?

1-He's a rookie

2-Teams adjust and game plan

3-He would benefit from a consistent running game to take pressure off him

John Fox?

We are what we are.

The other team practices too.

Ball Control offense.

Truth is that at least 3/4's of Cam's INTs weren't his fault. And even with the INTs he did enough to win the game. We shouldn't even be talking about Newton right now. The defense got their ass handed to them and Rivera and McDermott aren't cutting it. Chud also didn't help out with some of the calls he made today.

lol

Remember when people railed Moore for throwing two picks in the bears game, one off Armanti's hands and the other at the end of the game to Gettis down by 1,000,000? Those were both clearly his fault right? Yet 3/4's of Cam's ints aren't his fault?

Then you go on to blame everyone else for a QB who threw 4 picks?

This fan base and message board is headed in a dark, Atlanta esque direction.

cam threw the ints, "blame" goes on him. truth is the crazy overthrows were more concerning to me than his ints... but even so, I'm not worrying about it yet because he is just a rookie.

defense is still the primary reason that game was lost. it blew chunks.

just a correction PFFL..

Lions had 7 points off 4 turnovers. Their only score off a turnover came in the 4th quarter. All 14 points given up by the defense were due to the defense... well, being the defense in the 2nd quarter. I suppose you can "excuse" one due to awful special teams, but the other was a 66 yard drive. Detroit getting the ball on it's own 34 shouldn't be an automatic guarantee of a TD.

Panthers had 10 off 3, all in the first quarter.

Panthers defense struggled in the second and was pretty damn bad in the third and fourth.

Cam's interceptions leads to only 1 TD and it came after the defense had already given up our lead, then given up our tie, so meh. I wish the offense had moved the ball too but our defense is just plain out awful.

Basically defense gave up 42 points not related to Cam's turnovers, 28 that were on long drives of 80, 80, 63, 69, and 80 yards. That's... pretty bad.

A quick look at Detroit's scores and starting position along with the play that caused the field position:

2nd quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 10-7

2nd quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 24-14

3rd quarter: 30 yard TD drive, started on CAR 30. Punt return + Penalty. Score: 27-21

3rd quarter: 66 yard TD drive, started on DET 34. Punt return. Score: 27-28

4th quarter: 69 yard TD drive, started on DET 31. Punt return. Score: 27-35

4th quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 35-42

4th quarter: 23 yard TD drive, started on CAR 23. Interception. Score: 35-49
