They were doubling Smith and forcing Cam to throw to his left side. Greg Olsen was open more than on once and so was Naanee. In the 2nd and 3rd they played zone cover and 3 man rush and took away all the deep options. Once again Naanee was open because he runs crossing routes.

The Titans were focusing on Smith and preventing the deep throws, they were giving us the underneath stuff to Legs... that was the gameplan.

Just goes to show we have no deep threat besides Smith. Hopefully Gettis will be back and maybe we can grab a fast WR in the draft or FA.

that should have been a terrible game plan for them... I'll take that all day long..

They know Legs isn't going to turn upfield and score a TD on them or even get significant YAC... he's the definition of a possession receiver (when he catches the ball).

If Olsen hadn't had such a bad day and Shockey was healthy, we could have made a game out of dink and dunk underneath throws, but it wasn't meant to be. Hartsock took many of the snaps Shockey would have had and he just wasn't able to get open. Combine that with going down by 14 in the first quarter and it was the perfect storm.

The receivers need to learn to catch the ball that is in their vacinity. Every ball isn't going to be perfectly thrown like in practice...Dalton throw a ball on Sunday that was in traffic. It could have easily been pick-off but A.J. Green knew enough to turn around and jumped up and grabbed the ball while two defenders from Pittsburgh were all over him. Do u guys feel Nan would have been able to do that?

no but smith could have... there's a reason legadoo isn't a #1.

at the same time simpson probably would have had trouble making that catch aj did imo. but I could be wrong there.

leggy may catch a pass like that once in a while, but the pass by cam was a totally different beast from the one thrown to aj green by dalton...

KFFL reports Cam targeted him 9 times and he caught 8 of them against Tennessee (his catching percentage was a drastic difference from his usual ability to convert a target into a reception). In contrast, throws to Smith went for 5/8, 33 yards; Olsen was especially terrible last week going 4/11 for 45 yards; Shockey was only targeted once and he caught it. LaFell was at 1/2 for 18 yards.

This may be a new strategy for teams: try to take our playmakers out of the passing game and force us to beat them with Naanee. ....we couldn't beat Memphis with Naanee. Maybe Indy though.

there were also 5 drops on Sunday....so part of it was just Carolina shooting themselves in the foot. Like normal.
