No good info, What I am looking to use it for is I will be kayaking/hiking alot in Hawaii so I would like to have a good camera to take pictures. I am a novice with cameras but plan to take alot of pictures. Biggest concerns are

A. duribility

B. Taking pictures while in a kayak

C. Water/Rain

I keep one of these in my PFD while kayaking (flat & whitewater)

I roll and do rescue with it in the PFD and it just keeps taking pictures.

I'll piggyback on this thread.

I was just given a new Nikon D3100. Never had anything more than a point and shoot. Is this a good camera? There are so many features and options that it is going to take a while to learn everything.

D3100 is a good starter DSLR camera. Has all the features and available accessories an amateur photographer needs.

parents just got one for filming on the bikes and while fishing in the keys.

theres alot of stuff you can add-on to it and for kayaking you can probably make some pretty awesome videos too.

also no problem with water.
