Wait until Black Friday and get a digital. (Unfortunately, being an old film guy, 35mm film is dead.) Unless you want to go with Medium format photography, I'd stick to digital.

The only real decision is a digital point and shoot or DSLR camera. That really depends on the type of photography you plan on doing. Vacation and the kids, P & S. Professional, then DSLR. You have more flexibility with lenses with a DSLR, but also weighs about 4 times that of a P & S. (And costs about 5 times as much, minimum!)

The biggest problem with an autofocus camera is that it doesn't know what you want to focus on. DSLR camera will give you more flexibility on this. (You can run them in manual mode.)

On digital P & S's it comes down to what company you like best. Kodak, Cannon, Olympus, Nikon, etc. See what Comsumer Reports says about them.

No good info, What I am looking to use it for is I will be kayaking/hiking alot in Hawaii so I would like to have a good camera to take pictures. I am a novice with cameras but plan to take alot of pictures. Biggest concerns are

A. duribility

B. Taking pictures while in a kayak

C. Water/Rain

      While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
