What were most of the looks the Titans had on D?

They did on first down but after that they didnt have too because it was 2nd and a mile. But to say they didnt blitz much on first down would be incorrect.

Titans got 3 sacks from Finnegan, Witherspoon and Ayers. They most definately did blitz.

I said they didn't blitz much, not that they never blitzed.

I saw mostly standard packages with a few blitzes thrown in.

WFNZ said the same thing this morning.

We got beat when they didn't blitz and we got beat when they did.

From what I could see, in coverage, Smitty was almost always doubled, and the rest were zone across the board. There were a couple instances where they went man, but that was only when they blitzed it seemed like. Just a lot of combo coverages, nothing too complex. We just didn't get it done.

When Smitty actually ran a route, he was doubled. But for most of the game, he just jogged a few yards up the field.

Teams would be smart to double Smith the whole game, take away are only legit weapon at WR and make Nanee/Lafell beat you at WR. Make your LB's unpredictable blitzing and covering Olsen/Shockey. Force Carolina to keep the RB in for protection, taking away Cam's release valve.

UNTIL CAROLINA FINDS A #2 WR AND AN HEIR TO STEVE SMITH, WE'LL SEE MUCH MORE OF THIS IN THE FUTURE.

The Titans were the first team to give Newton major problems doing exactly what I feared teams would do, force Cam Newton to make throws and reads he's not ready for yet. We have to get our running game going in the future, otherwise we might as well raise the white flag.

I think the pressure Cam had is being a bit overblown. He did get sacked 5 times at least 2 of which were on him possibly 3. They did blitz a decent amount in early downs, a few delayed blitzes after all the blockers were engaged as well. Cam had time most drop backs. He just didn't seem comfortable with what he was seeing. It looked to me he sometimes doesn't give up on the deep routes soon enough to look for a checkdown. Most QBs get rid of the ball in under 3 seconds. Cam was not doing that Sunday.

Not that Newton is getting much help. With Tennessee leading 17-3, the Carolina offensive line allowed a sack despite just three Titans' rushers. Panthers linemen Geoff Hangartner and Byron Bell just brushed their men, then turned around to watch Newton go down. And he's not getting much help from the coaches. Trailing 17-0 late in the third quarter, Carolina reached fourth-and-2 on the Tennessee 11.

I would need to go back and watch the game but are you guys looking at blitzes as bringing one of the linebackers in for a 4 man rush? I never saw much in the way of exotic stuff.

The had one sack by a CB, 2 from LB and 2 from Defensive Ends.

this.

cam is always looking for the big play and rarely checks down or throw passes away.

the titans were the first team to exploit that.

i put some emphasis on first down sacks earlier because if you look at the pattern of the Panthers offense, first down was the throw deep down. which i like.

but i don't like it when you don't disquise it better.

oh well. its been gravy since week one. why stop now.

Well when you have a team down 2 tds in the 1st quarter, you can afford to be more aggressive. I think the person who said that the Titans exploited Cam's tendency to wait too long for the big play to develop is exactly right.

They took smutty away. The main issue was that we gave up on the run in the first half. This was way too early. titans also exploited Chud's tendency to do just that.

Overall, as both of these examples prove, we got out coached by a mediocre coaching staff, which makes our staff less than mediocre.

You know, the defense held the Titans up long enough for the offense to get on track. I think the offense and the coaches just didn't have their act together. This was certainly one of the top 3 worst loses.

then a white guy ran a punt back on us

I am every bit as baffled by this as you are. Since when can white people run? I didn't even know they were allowed to play professional sports. Due to their slowness and all. Oh well, always exceptions to the rule I guess. Remember that 5'10 white guy that won that NCAA dunk contest last year? Apparently he had a 50" inch vertical. So you're telling me not only are their fast white people, but also ones that can jump really high?! What's that all about? I guess athleticism isn't actually dependent on skin color?. . . Oh what am I saying, of course it is. No but really. . . it's not.
