I think it's partly genetic and partly opportunity. As a society we should do our best to remove the opportunity. Adults shouldn't be left alone with a single child only in group settings or where there is supervision or other people around. I wished there was validated research one what makes these pedophiles, pedophiles.

What makes them want to do it, and what makes them not be able to control their urges. Is it lesions to the brain, is it a chemical imbalance, is genetically written into their DNA. Maybe there is literature on it, and people (myself included) are ignorant to it. If it is something physical or genetic, maybe we can fix the problem before these people grow up and have an opportunity to abuse children. It would be great to take care of the cause instead of the effect. To protect these children before the rapes happen, instead of punishing the perpetrators after the children have been scarred.

Yeah, especially those people who sell drugs. If they would make it minimun 25 year sentence for anyone caught with weed. We would see a lot less crime.

You are 100% correct. The line has to be drawn, and as a society we've drawn it at age 18. Kids may think that they know what they're doing... and yeah, when I was 16 or 17 I would have banged a hot older teacher and been fine with it, but not all 16 year olds are alike. Some can be coerced into doing things they shouldn't and be made to think that they are making their own decisions.

The point is, the responsibility is not on the kids, it's on the adult to make the right decision. If you're an adult, and you are thinking about having sexual relations with a person who is under the age of 18, you KNOW there are consequences and you have to abide by them if you make that choice, no matter how much that young person wanted it too...
