Morning Radio Shows...

Hotsauce

Recommended Posts

I want to dedicate this thread to morning radio shows that are non-sports. In Charleston, we probably have the worst possible line up ever...

In the lowcountry, we have:

National

Bob and Tom 104.5 - Can be funny at times, but I grade the show a 3/10 because it is more of slapstick comedy and if it werent for the comedians that guest appear, this show would really suck. Bob and Tom are old, and do not appeal to me.

Bubba the Love Sponge 98.1 - These guys took over the airwaves last winter. I was really excited to get them, as the radio morning shows are all weak. After a few months of listening to most of the show, I really hate this show. I give it a 4/10 because Ned is really funny, and every now and again they will have an interesting segment (like one in every 20 shows). He gears his show around Florida politics because his listening market. They are only in a few major cities in FL, and Charleston SC...that is it, hardly national.....

Local

Two Girls and a Guy 95.1 - This is the show on the Pop/Top 20 station. They mostly talk about the Kardashians, Gheys, Dancing with the Stars....needless to say 1/10

Y morning Wake Up 102.5 - Mostly some news and mix of music. 2/10

TJ & The Morning Crew 103.5 - I dont listen to country, this show comes on the country station. ?/10

Summary

Again, Charleston has the worst line up ever in morning shows (dont even get me started on sports...)

I have found Lex and Terry (National, based out of Dallas) to be the best, most funniest show around. They are a little raunchy, and usually have some really good games, skits, call ins, contests, etc... I listen to them on their free app on my Droid.

Who do you guys have in your respective cities?

Get satellite radio and you will never listen to that crap again. I listen to Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez.

Im not going to pay the outrageous Sat. radio fee...They rape you blind....

A couple years ago, my dad bought a lifetime subscription for $399.

I called a few months back to try to get the same deal (I had been a subscriber for 3 years) and they tried to charge me $600, plus another $100 in fees....

Or you pay $12 a month which is $145 a year (plus a $75 activation fee + other taxes and BS).

I use my phone to get talk shows, Pandora, I used to be able to listen to WFNZ, but they pulled their station from Tune In Radio.

I signed up so long ago there was no activation fee. I just pay the 12 bucks a month and its well worth it.

Sorry dude, you all got ripped off. I pay $77 a year for Best of XM. No Stern but I don't care about that really.

I thought everyone in the South listened to "The Big Show!" John boy & Billy. John Boy & Billy are all the construction crews listen to! They are on 100++ stations thoughout the South!

Or to Bob and Sherie on 107.9. They are syndicated all over the south as well.

When I listen to morning radio, if it wasn't FNZ, before they screwed it all up! I listened to a mix of John Boy & Billy or Ace & TJ. (Ace & TJ got to be really old.) Other than that day years ago that they saved that woman's life from Gastonia! (But, if you are calling in to a radio station to announce you're in the process of committing suicide, then it's more of a cry for help!)

I can put up with "The O Show" on Kiss 95.1

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
