Titans say they got in Newton's head

The OL got manhandled all game long. Tennessee blitzed 3 and 4 guys and were able to successfully get LOTS of pressure doing so, also allowing them to drop a bunch of guys into coverage.

Any QB gets frustrated when he's getting his cradle rocked all game long because

a) The DL is in our face all game long

b) There is no one to throw to

Not worried about Cam. Am worried about the OL. Very worried. Tennessee's DL isn't exactly..well....even good...and it certainly isn't up to par with well let's say, oh, the Lions?

OL has played well this year for the most part, but you can attribute our offensive collapse yesterday on them-and everyone is frustrated about that, not just Cam. Let's not put our pass protection woes all on the OL. The failed blitz pickups by DeAngelo caused some errors yesterday, and I'm absolutely stunned at how poor Olsen played.

This should be just a one week thing. If it isn't, I'll be very concerned. If a road game in a dome isn't enough to jump start this team emotionally next week, I do not know what is.

Shocking here, but there's a lot of over-reaction going on here. Sometimes you just get out played, period. The wind was taken out of our sails a bit with the PR for TD, but then we came right back and drove the field and were about to score when Olsen fumbled. After that, we lost all momentum and got far behind and their D line absolutely destroyed our O line... no we didn't play well, but it happens.

Bad O line play, horrible penalties and the fact that they had Cam running for his life half the time on top of pretty good coverage, they just flat beat us.

Sorry... you guys continue on with the ranting...

thank you. Sometimes you just get outplayed. We will bounce back on offense.

Cam and Chud need to work this week on making the right adjustments and calling the right kinds of plays to deal with this thing where one linebacker is shadowing every move Cam makes. They call it "spying".

I'm sure other NFL teams we play this season are going to copy what the Titans did yesterday. They figured out a formula for stopping the Cam Newton machine. So we gotta get under the hood like the Nascar racers do and make "the Cam offensive machine" even better.

"Corralling Cam was Titans' defensive plan, and it worked"

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/11/13/2773140/titans-defense-corralling-cam.html

For every defensive strategy and matchup, Chud and Cam need to have the perfect COUNTER strategy and tactics to deal with it ... and hopefully turn it into an advantage.

Let's face it, the defenses in the NFL are a lot smarter than the ones in college ... bigger and faster too. Cam's going to have to be smarter and more creative. Sometimes, Cam is going to have to play in ways he hasn't done before. He's going to have do more timing routes and just get the ball out of his hands at warp speed more often.

If the Oline is giving him adequate time in the pocket, Cam is going to have to learn to be sneaky in the pocket. He should try using some more double pumps and faking a QB running play and then dinking the ball to a running back or tight end.

Peyton Manning plays all kinds of "head games" with opposing defenses to trick them. Cam needs to learn all of those tricks. The offense needs to have a lot of unpredictable things to keep defenses off balance.

Also, a sidenote, Cam should pay attention to his snap count. That is the one thing I'd put on him.

Several times he snapped the ball they sent an extra guy and Cam snapped it as soon as the guy got to the LOS - he essentially gave the blitzers a running start and the OL/RBs didn't adjust.

Love how everyone focuses all the attention on Cam and fans on this site love to pick apart everything he's doing wrong and demand that he fixes it. In the meantime, the rest of the team gets complete ignored and continues to suck.

Maybe the Panthers can learn from the Broncos and help strengthen ur QBs weaknesses by stepping up when he isn 't having a good day. It seems to work a lot got The Golden Calf of Bristol.

I definitely agree with the first part there... the o line got killed yesterday.

I don't think however, that Nanee was the best WR out there, I think that the Titans made a real effort to cover Smith and the TEs and force Newton to look elsewhere...

i guess i should have said used "most productive". bad word choice. point remains, though. i don't think any receiver we have played up to potential except maybe naanee. smith got frustrated to the level he was last year and when that happens, he's beat for the whole game.

there is no way a team using a spy on cam should be able to cover smith, olsen, shockey, and whoever else we have available for receivers (including RBs).

their heads just weren't in it.

WTF are you doing here? Are you serious? Are you a troll? Seriously...

If you think I've ignored the defense and ST, LOL, you might want to do some more reading. did you read the post before that one? And only negative thing I said about Cam was the snap count.

You clearly are not familiar with posters here or their stances on the issues at hand. Way to jump into a gun fight with your butterknife.

I suggest you try to actually read some of the threads that aren't about Newton. Seriously. You couldn't be any more off base.

you're turning into a troll with comments like this. totally off base. people have been tearing apart every part of the team, this season it's been mainly defense and special teams. yesterday it was the oline, receivers, and special teams that have been getting ripped to shreds. newton has gotten some criticism as well and honestly deserved, though no one (anti-newton trolls excluded) has been hanging losses on him.

you are far too defensive.
