DeAngelo Williams

Oh yeah Mr Scot, I mean, how would we ever find a starting back if we didn't draft one in the first round?? Just look at how devoid teams like Kansas City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Houston and Buffalo are of talent at that area with their non-first round running backs.

I guess Oakland didn't have any hope of running the ball the other night with mid round pick Michael Bush trying to fill McFadden's big shoes?

Actually, I think nearly everyone else is undervaluing the offensive line position.

I've severely undervalued the ability of people here to deflect blame and make excuses for their favorite players regardless of if it hurts the team or not.

You really think we can get somebody that's just as good as Williams that easily?

More to the point though, your reasoning here turns in on itself. You say it's easy these days to get a runningback you can just plug in and run. So tell me, why is that?

I'll give you a hint: The answer lies in the position that I'm saying we need to improve before tossing aside DeAngelo Williams.

Replace Williams with some scrub if you want to, but unless the O-Line is improved first it's not going to accomplish a thing. And if the O-Line is improved, then what's to be gained by downgrading from Williams?

I've severely undervalued the ability of people here to deflect blame and make excuses for their favorite players regardless of if it hurts the team or not.

Williams isn't my favorite player. The guys in my signature are.

They also happen to be the guys for whom I have some of the harshest criticism when it comes to our offensive performance.

this entire season was about patience and building. we rebuilt in the offseason, and we knew there were going to be growing pains. deangelo's role included. but here we are, nine games in, and everyone's ready to release deangelo, fire chud, fire rivera, and fire hurney. it sucks balls, but you grasshoppers need a little patience. we can evaluate in the offseason but let's not jump to conclusions only nine games into a completely new regime and system. owners and general managers don't just throw around tens of millions of dollars. there's a method to the perceived madness. and it's too early, in my opinion, to say the method is a failure.

The running game has never been the same since Brad Hoover left. Goes to show you don't realize how much you appreciate someone, until they're gone.:(

I appreciate DeAngelo, but in this offense where we're only running the ball a handful of times and not opening gaping holes Stewart is the more effective back.
