DeAngelo Williams

I'm torn... he hasn't looked like himself this year no. Last year, it took him until the middle of the season to get going good too though... my fear is that if we get rid of him, and we have another injury plagued year at RB, then what do we do?

won't matter at that point....at that point in this passing offense you can insert "just a guy" at RB. Like NE, NO, GB, etc. have done the past several years.

Terrible decision to give DeAngelo that contract. He made some critical errors in reading the blitz yesterday and picked up the wrong man and it resulted in Cam getting his faced smashed in. He just isn't a fit for this offense. Think you have no choice but to part ways with him considering the bind we are in financially.

So glad organizations aren't run by fans...he Chris Johnson would've been cut by half of you if that's the case. No ones really acknowledging that we are not/can't stick to the ground game 1) because we usually are behind or in a close game and have to pass, 2) we are developing Cam and the passing game as a priority this season (the HC said so himself).

apples and oranges.

Tenn wants there offense to run through Chris Johnson.....

Carolina wants there offense to run through Cam.......

Realistically, one of those guys is worth a fat contract (and don't forget Carolina has a better RB on the roster who was also a 1st rounder)

Contract made no sense....and that is why so many GMs and other teams have been reported on as QUESTIONING the move to give him that money (age, Stewart, and new scheme all factors)

You are not acknowledging the fact that when we do run there’s just a huge difference with Stewart. You can’t make an excuse for the fact Dwill isn’t playing good football this year. I wouldn’t cut him after this year but I would at least think about restructuring if it could save money.

I don't think DeAngelo will be willing to restructure his contract after a year in. He could argue that he's not getting enough carries, and that is a very valid argument. If we cut him, that will be a big hit against the cap. So all in all, we are pretty much stuck with him for now. J-Stew on the other hand will be looking for a nice contract. Out of the two running backs, J-Stew is the only one that is suitable to trade next year.

No he isn't.....it isn't suitable to trade what will be a 25 yr old stud RB opting to keep a 29 yr old former stud.

and in this offense, Stewart is the stud. Both in play and ideal RB age.

btw...i was in favor of keeping williams around although i didn't think he should have gotten all the money that he did. he was decent insurance in case our move to a pass first offense didn't work, but just way too expensive. i thought it would hurt the team more than help it by letting him walk, but i'm willing to admit i was wrong there.

benefit of hindsight being 20/20.
