I am Scared

Wait it's Cam's fault the linemen are penalized too? If I didn't know any better I'd say you started watching football in 2001 or something.

I could say the same think.

Is it that illogical to point out the relationship between sacks and offensive holding penalties in the NFL?

Yet holding calls are frequent, which suggests there's obviously something useful about holding. For passing plays, the alternative is often a sack, which is bad in all kinds of ways. Plus, not all instances of holding are called. I'm sure if you polled defensive lineman, they'd say less than 10% of holds are actually flagged.

So I wanted to know, "for passing plays, what's the break-even detection rate for a hold which would make it worthwhile?"

Sacks nearly last in leagues. Top of the league in holding. You think that's all on the O line?

Maybe you would have a point if they were not ranked towards the top of the league pass protection.

See that's your middle ground.

If my O line is ranked good in pass protection....that means they do a good job in giving my QB time. If my QB still gets sacked despite this and is nearly last in sacks...it must mean he's taking too long to throw the ball compared to almost the entire NFL.

Since there's a relationship between sacks and holding, the answer is not that hard.

to be honest several times cam was holding on the ball far too long, we have to work on receivers hot routes and actually getting the ball out quickly. If you haven't noticed we haven't done that all year.

Oh please, enough with that BS. Cam does not hold unto the ball any longer than any other QB. I just watched the Jets and Pats game and it's all about ur o-line not breaking down as soon as the ball is snap. Brady, a QB who seems allergic to running, can sit in the pocket for days with the ball and his team protects him. Why can't Cam get a chance to sit in the pocket for longer than a second and make a good throw every now and then. 5 sacks is Jay Culters numbers and even the Bears have figured out a way to cut those numbers down. Sacks aren't always attribute to a QB not getting rid of the ball fast enough.

DING DING DING!

It's happened all year! Why we are ranked last in sacks and first in penalties.

Our O-line is 12th in pass protection for the year.

Yeah, everything is Cam's fault. Thank God he doesn't play defense.

Isn't it funny that with all of The Golden Calf of Bristol's mechanical issues and bad playing, the Broncos, as a team, still manage to find a way to win. The guy went 6-8 for 69 yards and the damn team still won. But no matter how good or bad Cam plays the Panthers just can't seem to buy a win. I guess they believe in helping their QB.

But some Panther fans want to believe that Cam is the reason the team isn't winning because he's not doing ALL the right things as a QB. Fix Cam's issues and the team will start winning...Who knew.

Other than Byron Bell, our o-line does not have a serious problem with holding calls. We have 11 calls against the line this year (I can break it down by game and player if necessary) for holding or an illegal block. 5 of those belong to people not named Byron Bell. 1 of those was on Jeff Otah when Bell wasn't in the game. So that leaves 4 for the other 4 starters, or 1 each on average. Bell has 7.

You think we are getting holding calls on the o-line because Cam is holding the ball too long. If there is a relationship there it is a positive one, because other than our rookie, we don't get many holding calls on our o-line.

There goes yet another of your twisted arguments right down the drain.

No I think he's getting sacked because he's hanging on to the ball too long. That's the primary relationship. Holding penalties also have something to do with holding on to the ball for too long though.

Again when you factor all 3 in it becomes pretty obvious. Good pass protect, lots of sacks, and holding penalties. Holding penalties can happen anywhere. Most happen when trying to run though. And I can also see it when I'm watching the game.

I'd love to know where you found those though. I was looking for a site that has team penalties broken down and I can't find one. I can only find it by players.

I thought The Golden Calf of Bristol was 2 for 8 for 69 Yards. Which scares me because how can we throw for 212 yards and lose and Denver throw 2 complete passes all day and win. The Golden Calf of Bristol is averaging 10 completions a game, and 6 completions a game when they win. Is our team that bad?
