I've been wanting to get that one, where's the first word? I'm curious if the destruction perks that increase fire damage work with it.

You should get the damage perks (preferably at least two elements) by the time you reach end-game, it's the only reliable way to increase your spell damage. I'd also recommend going Conjuration as well to have some minions to spawn that can soak up some damage.

If you're going to play a mage type char, finish up the main college of winterhorn quest asap, the rewards are awesome. You won't have to worry about robes or headgear for the rest of the game.

This game has such a better feel than oblivion. I'm only level 15 or so, and there's plenty out there that can kick my ass, but I feel really powerful. I never got that in oblivion. The level scaling so far has been great. The only complaints I have about the game are trivial at best.

I was thinking about going there, but it's absolutely miiiiiles away. I guess I'll meander over if the rewards are awesome.

Has anyone met that bloody Falmer Gloomlurker dude in the Shimmering Caves? I got it as my first Companions quest........erm, that poo is impossible at level 6.

Go to the whiterun stables, there's a carriage there and you can pay the guy to go to any major town. The carriage is in most towns by the stables.

weird question, but how do horses work in this game? if I buy one and ride it around... if I jump into a cave does it wait for me outside? will it be at the local stables? do I have a way of summoning it once I leave an instance?

If you fast travel anywhere your horse will be waiting close by. I've noticed a few times your horse won't be there or will be kind of far away (100 meters or so), so it's a little buggy, but overall you can expect your horse to be there. If you're out somewhere, stop to fight something and lose your horse, just fast travel to find it. Horses are somewhat buggy overall but not a big deal imo, and they're somewhat cheap.

Am I the only one who chooses to have no companions? I can't stand them always being in my way.

I'm the same. My dude has gotten to the point where he 1-hits a lot of people, so I don't really need a companion's help.

Which means that Lydia just waits creepily in my house with my wife while I'm gone. Alone.
