Legedu Naane was our best offensive player today.

given how much our offense as a whole was struggling I was impressed with Naane. The Cam pick was nearly a great reception. if the ball was even barely more on target it wouldn't have happened. ah well.

Defense and Naanee is to blame. ;)

Smith has bad day. Cam has bad day. No Smith over 100. No good QB rating. Smith gets shut down. Cam gets shut down.

Cam drops in yards every week after 2nd game....Smith stays the same or rises. Hmmm.....

Smith 20.0 yards per catch.

Nr 1 receiver in the NFL. 14.5 yards per catch.

Nr 2 QB in the NFL in passing yards 8.5 yards per attempt.

Cam Nr 6 QB in the NFL in passing yards(and dropping after today)8.9 yards per attempt.

Nr of quarterbacks with an 8.0 or better average: 6

Nr of quarterbacks ranked below 90.0 QB rating with an 8.0+ average: 1. Name: Cam Newton.

This is such a mystery. What could it be?

incorrect. Smith has dropped as well. Smith had far more yards his first four games than his next four, and this week was awful. Smith is not staying the same or going up, he's going down. Not saying it's his fault, but defenses are learning how to stop him again and forcing other guys to step up... and with the drops by other receivers and tight ends combined with our rookie QB playing like a rookie, it was an awful day.

Smith was the #2 receiver in the NFL last week. He still is as of right now:

http://www.nfl.com/stats/player

He's still #1 in avg yards per catch.

Cam dropped to 6 overall. He will drop further after they tally up the numbers today. Smith will still be the #1 receiver in yards per catch.(I hope you are not counting the guys that have 1 catch for like 60 yards. Smith has 47 receptions and a 20.0 avg. LOL).

When it comes to passing Cam only looks good in: yards, long balls and avg yards per attempt. Aka: Steve touches the ball.

none of that matters to this statement:

Smith stays the same or rises.

Steve Smith through the first 4 weeks averaged 132 yards per game. Smitty through the next 4 weeks averaged 97 yards per game. Therefore Smitty has definitely not stayed the same or risen, totally the opposite.

Cam has trouble adjusting the velocity of his ball, but he throws a nice vertical ball in general. At Auburn he had no trouble completing the short passes so I think this is something that is not indicative of something missing from his skill set but something else (not being comfortable in all the plays he's being asked to run maybe? Not sure).

Cam is just a rookie... He's not going to look like an elite NFL QB every week... He's shown enough this year to turn most every critic into someone who, at very least, think he is WAY ahead of where he and most other rookies "are supposed to be."
