So Sad

I have fully noted the term Fan = Fanatics several times on this board.. and if you choose to be a knee-jerk, over-reactionary figure instead of a thoughtful, intelligent person then I feel sorry for you and hope that one day you understand the difference between the situation at hand having nothing to do with expecting less..

in Rivera's 3rd year, the situation will have changed and winning games will be mandatory.. hell, next year that's going to be the case.. right now, everyone should expect exactly what you saw today.. if you can't imagine how a rookie staff, young team, no offseason, and injuries would cause what we saw today, then you do not understand football and what a team must do: build chemistry..

that does not mean Rivera gets a pass, he will certainly hear about it.. no one is going to let this go.. however, pretending this game signifies his ability to learn and coach is extremely ignorant, and more likely incredibly stupid..

people have a 50/50 shot of him being successful and failing.. pretending you know that at the moment is conjecture.. sit back, learn how to embrace this season however you will, and try to keep perspective?

If you're accepting that you aren't going to win despite having a fairly talented team, young or not, then that IS expecting less.

I don't expect us to be 13-3 or even 10-6 for that matter... But, we are well on our way to being 2-15 AGAIN.

My problem is we aren't improving. We aren't learning. We are doing the exact same dumb sh*t that already cost us games. When is being young not an excuse anymore?

With the way some people are on here, if this team was your child, you'd be on Intervention. It's ridiculous.

I am reasonable. I do get angry and livid. But, I also keep perspective and I enjoy and savor the wins.

But, watching a guy miss repeated FGs and having the feeling that he's gonna miss each one he comes up to attempt shouldn't be the regular. It is.

Feeling like each punt is going to get returned back for a TD has nothing to do with being young, it has everything to do with horrible execution, lack of pride and technique, and making stupid mistakes.

A coach calling a timeout before halftime against the division leader and giving them 3 points... repeated mismanagement of scoring and time situations... Leading the league in penalties (I believe we now are because Oakland didn't play today)... If it happens once or twice a game at bad times, cool, we're young, coaching staff is new, blah blah blah...

But, this is happening EVERY GAME, MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE WORST INSTANCES. That's not being young, it's being stupid.

And no, even if we aren't that good, we shouldn't "expect exactly what you saw today" EVER. That is ridiculous man. Getting beat 30-3 with the 5th ranked offense at home? LOL, Eutopia must be awesome, how is the lotus?

But, I'll just let everyone here keep re-defining what a fan or intelligent person is because they don't share a consensus opinion on what's going on with our team (if it makes them feel better).

what else did you expect this season? that's a you problem.. if it doesn't change, then it becomes a team problem.. if Rivera can't fix these problems, it'll be a Rivera problem..

until then, I don't give a poo how you feel about it, you don't have to like it.. but what else did you expect again? teams don't just develop chemistry on top of all the circumstances swirling this team at the moment..

you can't say you didn't expect 13 wins this season and then turn around and be flabbergasted when we are losing games... chemistry isn't born over night..

strap on your seatbelt and watch the team grow.. you aren't playing, all you can do is watch. you're expectations don't mean poo to the team winning, and no sane person in that FO is about to make any drastic changes..

we'll see what the season brings.. to ignore all the circumstances is ignorant, if not stupid..

Cool, where did I ask you to give a poo how I feel?

Also, where did I ask for your validation of my opinion. I shared it, you criticized it. That's a you problem.

Too many people on this board act like they're above emotions or they're not associated with being a fan of this team... that's pretty stupid.

And when did criticizing your team equate to knee-jerk reactions?

I find it hilarious people here are repeatedly citing sh*t like it's written rules, "can't expect to win with a rookie coaching staff..."

Who made that rule? LOL... Go tell the 49ers that.

Yes, we had injuries and to some key players... But, go tell the Packers that means a lost season.

Our fanbase is so used to mediocre it's not even funny.

I'm not saying Rivera is an idiot or should be fired or anything like that, so what is "knee-jerk" about that? Oh, that's right! I expressed my opinion and it wasn't the cool one.

My observations of why we're losing wasn't based off of one game, it's based off of all of the games. Knee-jerk?

there is no better definition of knee-jerk than to look at 8 games and cry the sky is falling.. which is exactly what it sounds like from you and other peoples posts.. if it wasn't, you all would be disappointed, but patient..

you posting your opinion isn't a me problem.. I'm citing my opinion, and a very valid one, to everyone freaking out about a situation where clearly people are talking out of both sides of their mouth.. you point out rookie mistakes, by both coach and players, yet can't accept or understand that they are rookie mistakes..

if they don't change, Rivera and staff will get axed just like our past coach, who was fired for being extremely mediocre... this forum is freaking laughable at the moment and you think our fanbase accepts mediocrity?

are you f**king kidding me? ;)

this is my point.. it's really pathetic for people to let their emotions control them in situations where your expectations were too high.. what the 9ers have to do with the Panther means jack poo.. we aren't the 9ers.. remember Denver a few years ago? 6-0, and then they fell off as bad as any team in recent years..

the Carolina Panthers are trying to build chemistry, and should they do so, it's very possible that you comparing us to the 9ers might turn out to be a joke.. who knows how long their success will last.. and if it does, great for them..

you can be pissed.. don't act like the Carolina Panthers are exactly in the same boat as the 9ers.. if our defense stepped up in any 1 of the 1st 5 or 6 games, I feel confident this loss would be a blip on the radar and we'd all be talking playoffs.. however, this team isn't a video game and you can't force success.. and just as fast as you found that success, teams have shown they lose it.

perspective. wait and see. none of which has to do with accepting mediocrity..

I feel like many of these people said "it's just one week, no big deal" 15 times in a row in 2001.

and what happened the next 2 years? perspective. thanks for helping me show people that overreacting is a bit much at this juncture..

It is not coaching when vets like Johnson and Olsen let us down, they know better.

But the rest of it. Why was out Oline owned the entire game?

ST...nothing all year...that coach needs to go.

Mare and Baker have lost their touch.

This game made me very sad.

AND we play Detroit this year

I still don't know where I overreacted?

I appreciate your toned down response that last post, but I'm not going to apologize for wanting to win.

And the forum is laughable, these repeated fan-on-fan attacks, calling people stupid, ignorant, and unintelligent because they're unhappy with penalties, poor execution, and lack of enthusiasm and accountability is laughable.

You're right, all we can do is watch and our words don't change anything... But, I'm going to express what bothers me rather than act like I'm okay with it. I always have and I always will. I love this team and I will always expect the best until proven otherwise.

I'm responding to this idea that getting flamed a few weeks ago for being negative wasn't warranted and that being negative a few weeks ago isn't considering knee-jerk? 5 or 6 games into the season?

I'm also responding to this idea that because you are a fan, you have to react negatively 5 or 6 games in or else you might as well find a grandmother quilting league..

or that understanding the situation this year means you are expecting less, and how that is relevant at all to 5 or 6 games in of a 1st year coach and a young team dealing with injuries and no offseason.. hence why it doesn't matter how you feel, be pissed. I'm pissed after today. Today was not good.

however I don't have to join in on the mob mentality every time my team fails.. They will fail. Look at the Ravens and Eagles today. 9ers are a great story, but look at Denver a few years ago.. Look at them this year, people bringing them up may look foolish again..

I'm coming from a place where I'm tired of seeing fans turn negative all the time. I will call people out for it, and it's no sweat off my back. Hopefully those who are getting attacked step their game up.. ;) I'd rather for this place to be a bit edgy than to hear people bitch and complain all the time. I'm not saying you do that, but collectively it's beyond old and tired..

no where did I say you can't be negative when the time comes, that time is not now.. and I'm not saying you have to accept the losses, but people also don't have to be ridiculous (as a whole) either..

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Part of being a coach is to inspire your players to give the best of what they have. I don't think that our vets were playing "inspired" ball today.

But the rest of it. Why was out Oline owned the entire game?

If you go back to the tapes of the prior games, you may see that Ryan Kalil has been gotten to multiple time this year. Today wasn't his best outing by a long shot.

Byron Bell has also gotten beat pretty often this year. Opting to place Otah on the IR instead of keeping on the roster has proven devastating.

ST...nothing all year...that coach needs to go.

If you were not in servitude to Max I'd ask you to marry me.

Alas, always the brides maid, never the bride..

Mare and Baker have lost their touch.

Even if Kasey had missed every kick Mare had, I'd still feel good about the position. Which I don't feel today..

This game made me very sad.

That is the feeling you get when hope dies..

(Sorry, the happier SteelSix is on vacation until Monday)

Okay, but it wasn't okay to express concerns about our team 5 or 6 games in, but it is okay now, 9 games in? When, as I said, the same problems are evident as they were then, but are just becoming more pronounced.

I understand calling people out for bitching about stuff with no substance, or people bitching just to be heard. I voiced valid concerns, and they are still concerns.

And at 5 or 6 games in, if these things have gone on repeatedly in every game, that is good enough to be considered a trend, and therefore a concern.

Then other areas, like Jason Baker and Mare, the ST, etc. those things were huge problems even before this year, and we're still suffering from them not being addressed now.

I don't think you have to react negatively to every loss, and I don't. But, when each loss has been a result of the same problems, then it's hard not to react negatively. When you get blown out at home and score 3 points with the 5th ranked offense after having two weeks to prepare, you shouldn't be happy with that.

I'm just more willing to express how I feel in the moment. But, I haven't been wrong about my concerns thus far, I just hope they are addressed and fixed before the end of the season...
