So who do you want with our 3rd overall pick?

I am not saying it doesn't happen, I am saying I don't really agree with it.

The Cam pick had a lot to do with need as well. There was no one else that was better than Cam at their respective position that filled a need.

Thats how i feel about Blackmon, but Kalil is also just as good its between those 2 too me.

I'm excited for next year and this up coming draft. As most said, this year was a rebuilding year (but I didn't want to hear that mess:mad: If there is a next time, hopefully I will listen next time, but I doubt it.:D) With all that said, I'll go ahead post what our first five picks should be.

1st round: Matt Kalil

6 ft 7 in 295 lb

Jeff Otah, as we've have witness throughout his career, is injury prone to the max. We know what its like to operate throughout a season only having one good tackle. So, it's time we part ways with the big fella, and bring in a more consistent cat. Matt Kalil is the best tackle in college football, so he would definitely be an immediate impact player. Plus, the Panthers organization is all about family, so let's reunite the Kalil brothers!

2nd round: Manti Te'o

6 ft 2 in 255 lb

Manti+Te

Thomas Davis has blown out his knee 3 times in 3 seasons. There's no way we go in expecting him to start the season healthy next year. That is why we bring this guy in. Manti Te'o looks to be the real deal. He should be a first round pick (and probably will be), but because this draft is so deep, he my end up going in the second round. What's great about him is if Beason is unable to go, he can move into the MLB slot and pick up the slack.

3rd round via trade: Joe Adams

5 ft 11 in 190 lb

We need a punt returner desperately. We haven't had a threat at returner since Smitty was running things back there, and with Joe Adams, things will once again be where they were. He also has good receiving skills.

4th round: Kendall Reyes

6 ft 4 in 296 lb

Here's a guy who has potential. For a DT, he is very athletic. Although he needs to work on his tackling in gaurding against the run. I think in free agency, the Panthers will bring in veteren talent, and Kendall will sit and learn from them.

5th round: Robert Blanton

6 ft 1 in 200 lb

I always found it good to sign at least one college teamate of one of our earlier picks, to give both (especially the earlier pick) some level of comfort as they transition to the big leages. The players in this case are Manti Te'o and Robert Blanton. With that said, Robert is definitely no scrub. This cat's stock is rising faster than....nah I won't go there.:D Check out what he did to Kirk Cousins, who himself has NFL quality talent

Gettis is a roleplayer. LaFell can do more overall as a WR. That showed last year.

I do not think that showed at all. Lafell was a better developed blocker, but was that any surprise given their college careers? Lafell fit Fox's offense pretty well... but Gettis fits this one to a tee.

I'm down for matthias' offseason except I'd rather have hangman starting over Wang....and did we get a third for Steve smith where is he?

According to my projection, I have him traded, though I would hope for more than a third round pick. Now we could give Smith an extension on his contract, to ease our cap numbers this year, but only Smith and Greg Hardy are suitable players that we can trade and expect value for. I think when it comes to trading Smitty, if we were to ever do it, next year is our last chance.

why the hell would you trade smitty

We need help on this defense, and it will cost money. Smith's cap numbers for next year are high, and I don't know if he would be willing to take less money because he is still a top receiver in this league. If that is the case, I rather have top defensive talent than have a top receiver.

So you want us to be a passing team....with no WRs. That should work out well.

so in order to help our defense you basically take our biggest weapon on offense and our only solid, established playmaker at WR... and trade him away?

I feel like we have to find ways to fix our defense that don't include "trade away our best WR."

if it includes trades, I think we'd be better off finding someone else to trade than smitty...

the biggest fix for our defense is just this season ending and getting healthy. A couple standard FA moves and BOOM! Rivera has a D to work with.

Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of players value worthy of a trade. I know most of you say Smitty is an aging receiver who wouldn't bring in much value himself, but I think teams would see him as an aging elite receiver, and would give a 2nd or even a late 1st to obtain.

I think of teams like the Steelers, Patriots, Bears, Saints, Giants, etc, none of them have elite recievers. I will say that if Smith is willing to restructure his deal, then of course I would want him to stay.

This Matthias guy makes no sense, at all. Fix the defense break the offense, and instead of not being to stop anyone, we won't be able to score on anyone. That's why you're here posting with us and not running a NFL team.

Yet let me ask you an honest question. If a team was willing to give up a late 1st round pick-early 2nd for Smitty, would you take that deal?
