Special Teams and Defense don't even belong in the NFL

That is exactly correct mav! It's TOTAL OFFENSE.

PR scoring efficiency

defensive scoring efficiency

offensive scoring efficiency

That is your TOTAL OFFENSE.

Look at last game: 19.3

http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/yards-per-point

Look at the last game against the Vikings. 21 points. 405 total yards.

405/21 = 19.28

dude total offense has nothing to do with special teams yards directly. YPP is JUST a team's yards on offense divided by it's points scored.

last game we had 405 yards of offense and like 80 return yards. we would have had a YPP of 23 if it included special teams... and that's not including the field position thing which is just totally wrong

"total offense" is JUST yards the offense has had, nothing at all to do with special teams.

edit:

290 yards passing

140 yards rushing

80 yards on returns

= more than 405

strangely enough, if you take 290 yards passing, add 140 yards rushing, account for yards lost, you get 405! CRAZY!

Dude I just fuging proved it to you.

YPP is TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS DIVIDED BY TOTAL POINT!

And yes that is TOTAL OFFENSE.

you're right, it is. but the problem is, offensive yards does not include yards from special teams.

YES IT DOES!!!

It's TOTAL offensive yards!

Special teams offense + Offense = Total offense.

fug you guys hard headed. So does a defense after a takeaway. They play OFFENSE at that point. And the yards DO add up for total offense! YPP counts that towards offense.

give me an example

go dig one up

here's a game link:

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011103003/2011/REG8/vikings@panthers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

here's the Panthers nfl.com link with our team stats:

http://www.nfl.com/teams/profile?team=CAR

here's a link with teams YPP, notice Panthers at 17.7:

http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/yards-per-point

now just give it up and admit you were wrong.

I did earlier in the thread. Read please.

Look here: http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/yards-per-point

Look at last game: 19.3 YPP. That's Vikings.

We had 405 TOTAL yards against vikings. 21 points.

405/21 points = 19.28 YPP or 19.3 YPP

NOW YOU GIVE IT UP AND ADMIT YOU ARE WRONG!

290 yards passing

140 yards rushing

= 430 yards, 25 yards lost on sacks = 405 yards.

So tell me, where are return yards added in? In passing yards or rushing yards?

Dude.....total yards for offense from ESPN.com = 405. Stop arguing.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=311030029

And yes those sack yards are bad and do hurt our total offense. Guess who's fault that is? Offense. O line and Cam Newton.

So do penalties. And we have 0 points at half time against the 17th ranked defense in the league.

PS: I would imagine that is rushing.
