Breaking News: Denver plans to deal QB Cutler

Mountainpantherfan, did you ever stop to think that we're supposedly a run-first team (whatever the hell that means) BECAUSE we have Jake as our starting QB? If we had a QB that could actually, ya know, pass the ball accurately and stuff we might become a little more pass-oriented.

Since day one Fox has said that he wants to run the ball and stop the run. I don't see how Jake's talent or lack thereof effects this at all.

with jake as our qb we are a 12-4 team, the one area that we need to address to get us over the hump and make us a super bowl team is defense. trading for jay cutler would do nothing but set us back. I'm not saying jake is a better qb than jay cutler but what i am saying is it takes alot more than one player for a team to be successful. jake has great chemistry with the team. jake knows how to run the offense. im not saying that jay cant learn the offense, and I'm not saying he cant develop great chemistry with the team. but these things take time to happen. as far as the defense goes the only trade bait we have is peppers. so if we trade peppers in return we need to get player and or draft picks that will help us replace him and help us improve our defense overall. trading peppers to denver for cutler would only make the defense even worse. im all for finding a replacement for jake. but i dont want to that if it will hurt the team overall.

This is where I disagree with a lot of people. I do not see this team winning a championship with Delhomme. I'm not saying the defense doesn't also need to be addressed because it does but to say the ONLY thing keeping us from a championship is the defense, which I also have problems with, just isn't true. The defense seems to be in place except for a DT and possibily a DE if Peppers leaves. The offense is in place except for QB. The defense may not have played great in the playoff lose but the lose wasn't on them. The lose was on Delhomme. He even said so.

You do realize that I am not a proponent of this trade? But it is ridiculous to think that jake is better than jay even for our team as is.

It depends on what you mean. There's not some fantasy land where we can trade one for the other straight up. The question is whether or not whatever we have to give up for Cutler is worth getting him.

Yes Jake is always throwing players and his organization under the bus in the media...AGREED!

All we know is what is said that we see or read or hear for ourselves. Unless you know for a fact he is doing those things, he isn't doing what I consider "whining".

You've been had. In the same article about Cutler being traded to the Niners:

Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner will no longer be using his trademark gloves on the field this season. When asked why he merely responded with, "God told me not to wear them." No word from the team as to how this will affect his throwing motion.

In Buffalo, newly signed wide receiver Terrell Owens was seen getting into an altercation with Bills quarterback Trent Edwards during a charity Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Onlookers overheard Owens could yelling "Throw me the [expletive] frisbee! I'm open!" while getting really close to Edwards. Owens was later seen throwing popcorn in Edwards' face before storming out of the facility where the event was being held. Edwards and Owens could not be reached for comment.

Darren Sproles, the diminutive yet shifty running back for the San Diego Chargers, needed medical attention after being shot through a children's tube slide at acceerated speeds at a local San Diego park. "Man, you just pick up speed on that thing! I thought it was never going to end. I don't know how my kids do it." Sproles had minor scratches and bruises but should not miss any team workouts.

The Oakland Raiders have made another bold offseason signing with their acquisition of defensive end Amon Hobbs to a multi-year contract. While the details of the contract are not yet known, it is rumored to be a $45 million deal. This is a large amount for a player that was not able to secure a backup role last season with the Lions before being released. When ESPN analyst Tim Kurkjian was asked about his thoughts regarding the deal, he replied, "I am a baseball analyst." Oakland feels that Hobbs is a perfect fit for the starting role and could contribute immediately. Hobbs has 13 tackles and no sacks over his 8 year career
