Breaking News: Denver plans to deal QB Cutler

Smith would have more TD's under Cutler.

all the times Smith has to run back and make an acrobatic catch, then get tackled would not occur. He would get hit in stride for the TD with Cutler, most of the time.

we'd have a dangerous passing and running game at same time, it could be a deadly offense. and given direction Defense is going, it may be our Best Defense next year

Mountainpantherfan, did you ever stop to think that we're supposedly a run-first team (whatever the hell that means) BECAUSE we have Jake as our starting QB? If we had a QB that could actually, ya know, pass the ball accurately and stuff we might become a little more pass-oriented.

The best defense is apparently a good offense. Projection is a common defense mechanism where you ascribe negative characteristics to others that you are in fact exhibiting.

I bow to the expert!!!

now you are gonna bring out a projection argument?

you are off your game today 55

I am not arguing with you because your position is not strong enough to even argue against.

Saying Jay is not an upgrade from Jake and disagreeing that the conclusiveness of any stat can be called into question does not really define the idea of a 'strong position' and I find it very admirable and even comendable that you have been able to post anything resembling a coherent thought (at times) in trying to make it such.

williams would have less.

what's the point?

rob peter to pay paul?

why would it matter who is getting the TDs as long as they come?

personally i would rather just win.

we can have it. other teams have it. why not us. i think we are more likely to find that next year. i think it could be matt moore. i don't know. i do know that i can wait another year.

jake won't be here forever and we won't have to wait forever to find that QB.

no QB in the league fits your qualifications in my opinion. And I am not saying that Jay is the guy. I do have a problem in people saying he would not be better than Jake.. That is just ridiculous.

There is not an executive or coach in this league that, all things being equal in terms of salary and the financial aspects of the game, would rather have Jake Delhomme than Jake Utler. Not one. Not. One.

Well..............................except for the clowns running the Panthers lol. I'm sure they would take a 45-year-old Jake Delhomme over Montana in his prime because of Jake's FIREY ATITUDE N LEADERSHIPZZZ SKILZ!!11!!11!

Tony Dungy with the guy a lot of people think is the best QB in the game could not ever rely on his offense to win the SB, his Qb had a 3 TD 7 INT playoff run when they won a SB. Bill Belichick with who I consider to be the best QB in the game could not win a SB that way (offense first, average D) and even with the best QB in the game hasn't won ONE SB since his defense started to decline, but you think enough of Fox to think he can? Do you think Cutler is better than either Manning OR Brady? Interesting.

No, because Fox has said otherwise many times. He said that even if he had John Elway, he would run his team the same way.

The guy threw for 4500 last year without one at all and with an arguably inferior group of receivers.

Yet another ridiculous argument. Fireball already called you on the running game aspect, but having Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley, and Tony Scheffler as his "inferior" weapons versus Steve Smith, Mushin Muhammad, Dwayne Jarrett, and Jeff King is pretty laughable.

but he IS an upgrade.

I don't agree that our entire running game would be obsolete as ANY AND EVERY star QB in history loves a great rush attack to make his job easier. The guy threw for 4500 last year without one at all and with an arguably inferior group of receivers.

Since when is an accurate quarterback NOT good for the team?

I have posted this many times. IMO, Cutler is a lot like a TO or Chad Johnson or even Steve Smith in that we wants the ball and wants to make the play on ever down. I don't think that is a bad quality. For some teams they need that type of QB. If Cutler was to come to Carolina and then asked to hand the ball to Williams/Stewart 50% of the time he would not be happy here. He has publicly stated how he likes the type of offense Denver ran last year which relied heavily on the passing game. So IMO for Cutler and the Panthers to mesh the team would have to adapt their offense to a more pass friendly offense. After going out and doing all that they did to rebuild the o-line to be better at run blocking and drafting two 1st round RB within two years of each other, I don't see them abandoning this offense just to get Cutler.

If Cutler would actually come out and say he would love to play for the Panthers and would happy playing on a run first team, my view would change. But from the comments that have come from Cutler I don't see that happening.
