I don't see any reason for not giving him a shot. Sign him. Hopefully it all works out and we'll have help in a position of need for years to come. Give him a incentive based contract (again if things work out) to keep him motivated.

If he becomes a cancer cut him. Nothing vested in him now. Its not like we are trading away anything to get a solid starter.
