Obligatory "Do We Sign This Released Player?" Thread: Albert Haynesworth

I don't see any reason for not giving him a shot. Sign him. Hopefully it all works out and we'll have help in a position of need for years to come. Give him a incentive based contract (again if things work out) to keep him motivated.

If he becomes a cancer cut him. Nothing vested in him now. Its not like we are trading away anything to get a solid starter.

Ok, let's look at what we are really talking about.

Some want us to cut a spot to potentially bring in a 30 year old DT who hasn't really performed up to expectations at 3 teams. We will have to spend extra time in practice to get him to learn the playbook and calls for his position while we continue to try to develop 2 rookies who currently look confused and lack the gas to finish.

So, can we get this guy to perform with a short time to learn the system?

Is he a "stop gap" or is he "the answer"?

If he's a stop gap player we would have at the most 4-6 games that he will be effective in *if he gives the effort*. Couldn't we still win those games without him?

Shouldn't we opt to spend the practice reps and coaching time on the two guys that we've been investing in for the past 4 months? Most likely we will have to decide between Fua and McClain this off season as to who will remain. Why shouldn't we take the next 8 games to fully evaluate these two, instead of trying to teach a lazy old vet how we do stuff around here..
