Cincy had a coup in first 2 rounds, hopefully in long run Cam by himself will always be greater than the Dalton/Green 10+ yr combo from same draft.

Imagine if we had taken any of them. If Cam was tearing it up somewhere else, how on earth could we possibly be happy with our pick?

Exacetly!! and the reason why the Panthers had to take Cam no matter what. I said this then , and that is I would have rather the Panther take Cam and he ended up not panning out - vs passing and he ended up tearing it up somewhere else.

I think Cam also came into the best situation for him here. I wanted Dareus because I had concerns about Cam's accuracy, but I would def take Cam in hindsight. He has impacted the team much more than any other rookie this season in the NFL.

But anyways, I think that with the new philosophy on teaching has helped Cam out quite a bit. Look at Ponder who was also at IMG with Cam.

For the lack of an off-season it certainly hasn't seemed to have stopped their from being break out rooks

knowing everything we know now, I still take Cam and it's not even close. It's a no brainer.

I was a "fanboy" of the top 5 prospects in general...it seemed too close to call to say one was the obvious choice at the time...

But it's obvious now that Cam is on an entirely different level than Dareus, Von, PP7, & Green but they are no doubt playing absolutely great this year

Lets be real here. For the most part, the top 5 picks in many drafts end up being impact players. Sure there are busts here and there (most often wide receivers,running backs and quarterbacks) but there is usually a reason they are a top 5 pick. As others have said, it isn't about whether they are impact players but whether they met the biggest need for us. Sure everyone of them would have helped us and made us better, but no one would have made as big an impact as Cam has made for us. So I can be glad for the teams that drafted those other players and wish them well as long as they are not playing us that week. Because in the end we got our franchise quarterback for the next decade. That is the biggest need we have had for the past 15 years.
