Penn State...what did Paterno know?

This kind of thing would be easy to turn a blind eye to. Paterno was aware of it in 2002 forward, from what the facts state. He might have been aware of it before then but we might never know that for sure. The facts are, Penn State covered this sickening story up and that alone is getting everyone fired.

All the other college scandals, Reggie Bush getting his Heisman revoked for accepting bribes, Cam Newton stealing a laptop, various coaches accepting or dealing bribes to players...this makes them look like saints.

@catfang

I say re-write the book, and then throw at it em. The "death penalty", as its called, isn't harsh enough in my opinion.

like a guy I work with said, "save the bullets for those that deserve them." :D

In Catfangland, the sentence would be slow death by hanging, or have some hogs eat them. Yes indeedy.

I tie his ass up in the woods up in the mountains somewhere and let the bears find him.

Proper punishment might be to let him be sexually assaulted by a 100 year old woman. Then slowly cut off his skin with a dull knife. I think the "cruel and unusual punishment" law should be thrown away when it comes to crimes against children.

I don't know what happened but I'm glad everybody else does. Paterno is not even in the fugging building when this happens but the next day a grad student tells him he saw some bad doo going on. Paterno notifies the AD and chancellor(?) who actually gave the creep the authority and access to be on campus and in the facility. The guy doesn't work for Joe anymore so he reports it to the people who allow him to be there. What the f*** is he supposed to do make a citizens arrest? JP may be dirty as hell in this but from what has been reported it looks like what he did was a pretty reasonable reaction under the circumstances.

The worst thing about this country is how quickly people jump on the media driven frenzy train.

there is a media frenzy, but my opinion of it is educated. i've read the facts. the janitor, his co-workers, the grad student, his dad, joe, the AD and all others should have gone to the police. sitting and wondering what to do and then not really doing anything because it would affect the school is the mistake they made.

The question is to what degree.

Here you go HP, ? This is re-written directly from the indictment. I cant c&p but you can find it, its on Page 7, about the middle of the page:

Joseph V. Paterno testified to receiving the graduate assistant's report at his home on a Saturday morning. Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Paterno called Tim Curley ("Curley"), Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate superior, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy.

OK. Lets stop. Why did he wait AN ENTIRE DAY to call his boss???? Coverup??? Look at the last couple of lines there. He testified under oath the words "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy". Quote unquote from testimony. Wouldn't that knowledge be enough for any decent human being to immediately call the police? I'm glad Paterno's fired, and I hope his "legacy" will always have the asterisk that he enabled a child rapist to continue to harm kids. He's a motherfuger.

I'm not too sure what this means. My first thought is however, A professor has knowledge of the situation?! How in the world has this been going on for 15 years?

Yeah its just a reporters twitter, wouldnt bet my life on its validity.

Here is what we know. There are ALOT of people up there who have known about these accusations and kept quiet for the "good" of the football program. Maybe this professor has knowledge on the situation. We dont know yet.

Another certainty is that if most/ all of these kids are white psu has a fighting chance of getting through this.

BUT if those kids were/are black...that school will literally be burned to the ground.

I've posted this several times already and addressed it. Everyone needs to read the indictment at least the parts that relate to Paterno and the administration.
