Penn State...what did Paterno know?

We should also not forget that JoePa is god and king of that campus.

If he said "this iswrong, this guy has to go, and the police need to be involved", that is EXACTLY what would and should have happened.

Instead, he did the bare minimum to CYA and essentially protect his right hand man of 35 years.

Did he do wrong legally? Probably not.

Did he fail as a leader, as a man, and as a protector of both these children and the reputation of his kingdom?

Damn right he failed.

Well Yeah. The GA didnt call the cops. Joe Pat didnt call the cops. The AD didnt call the cops. The VP didnt call the cops. The President didnt call the cops. Nobody fuging picked up the phone and called the cops!

And by cops i mean State police not those bs campus security "cops".

Not only did they not call the cops, they saw him walking around campus for the next 10 years afterwards, let him retain an office in the athletic department, run over-night camps for boys 8-14 on school campus and collect a salary from the Second Mile program.

I personally think that's more than enough... if someone told me a grown man was just showering with a 10 y.o. boy, that would be enough for me to have to check it out and find out what was going on... much less if I was told that there was fondling/sexual things going on...

Sure. But it is critical to know exactly what Paterno was told. The decision matrix between "send it up the ladder" and "immediately call the cops" is completely dependent on what was conveyed to him.

It absolutely is not.

The paragraph before the reference to McQueary telling Paterno what he saw includes as much detail as to the "sound of skin slapping" that he heard from the shower.

That is his testimony not what he told Paterno. The only reference to what McQuery told Paterno is on page 7 2nd full paragraph.

According to the indictment, Paterno testified that he told Curley (the AD) that the Grad asst. saw Sanduskey in the showers "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy".

Adult doing something sexual with a kid = call the cops.

ETA: & The grad asst also told Curley that he thought Sanduskey was having anal sex with the kid.

Hey he told the guy (Schulz) who ran the campus police. And these are real police with real authority.

In addition McQuery told him (Schulz) specifically that it was anal rape (Paterno wasn't there.)

The real question with regard to Paterno is what actions he took in the years afterwards when nothing was done. What was he told by his bosses, did he push for things.
