Could you ever give up the Panthers?

If the League continues to be pussified, how long before you say enough is enough? Last night I saw a good hit by a defender on a receiver to knock out the ball to be an incomplete pass and a flag was thrown for it. And that's not because the refs threw a bad flag. That is because the rules tell them to do that.

Also last night a whistle was blown too early at the goalline because the Steelers line had Ray Rice in his grasp and momentum slowed down, but was still going forward. The whistle took away what should of been a TD by Rice because he was still going forward. But the rulese telll the refs if the ball carrier is in grasp of the defender to blow the whistle.

One final thing I saw last night was Hines Ward catch a ball, get 2 feet down, fall on the ground but then a defender rolled on him and the ball came out. The refs saw it and because of the rules, had to call it incomplete.

The absurd rules of the game and the pussification of the league is really getting to me and if it continues I dont know if i could watch anymore. How much is enough? Would you ever stop watching again?

Don't know that I will ever stop watching, but others might.

In my opinion, what is happening with football is analogous to what has happened to the country as a whole; too many rules.

You cannot legislate or outlaw every wrong in the world or on the field.

Officiating is getting worse because these guys have so many things to watch out for, and so much gray area in interpretation, that bad calls are inevitable. I used to think I could spot pass interference or roughing the QB, but now have no clear idea what a player can do and can't do.

This is a very real problem.

No. This has nothing to do with my love for the Panthers.

As for the rules, yes they've gone a little overboard (albeit with a good reason) and need to let the guys play a little more... I think they'll work out the kinks, but it may take a few more seasons.

As to the Ray Rice play, not that big of a deal imo... I can see why they blew the whistle.

I had to be honest and answer yes. I refused to watch any football during the Seifert years. I gave up on the NFL almost completely for the most part during his tenure. I'd watch bits and pieces of games, but spent most of my time watching Winston Cup racing.

As soon as he was out I was back in. Hiring of Seifert was, in my opinion, the number 1 worst move this franchise has ever made.

So I answered yes, cause if I did it once I could do it again. Just being honest. Call me whatever you like.

Had nothing to do with the rules that time though. But I have completely sworn off Nascar because of rules..so...

I believe in the idea that football will continue to evolve, and at the same time ensure that the physicality stays in the game. The powers that be need to realize that fans want to see big hits, but it doesn't make sense to have egregious hits that knock players out. You see players who hit smart, other players need to follow suit.

Some of the worse calls I have seen are for offensive holding and/or pass interference. These need to be cleaned up.

That being said, I will never give up on the Panthers. It is impossible for me to do so.

Shoot i miss the knockout shots. I miss the days when knocking the quarterback out of the game was part of the equation. Quarterbacks today have it e-z. They put up huge numbers against handcuffed defenses and people are calling them the "greatest ever." You have rookies breaking records. I mean really people, you need to be a complete p***y not to put numbers against todays defenses. Thats why guys like Montana, Unitas, hell even Bradshaw should always be held to a higher standard.

I wouldn't give them up for the reasons mentioned, but I quit basketball when the NBA allowed the Hornets to move to New Orleans, and I quit baseball when they cancelled the World Series. I find I don't miss either.

When the NFL starts behaving like the fans don't matter, I'll dump my tickets and do something else on Sunday afternoons.

if things with the league just got silly like it has with the NBA and MLB, then probably.

both of those are jokes. it's not hard to believe that the NFL could go the same route at some point.

not sure what i'd watch, but something would easily take it's place.

if the panthers moved...yeah i might quit watching the panthers then as well. depended on where and why they moved. i guess if the team was ever sold to someone that i thought was a complete moron and he made the team consistently ridiculously bad i might quit watching then as well. it would have to be worse than al davis and the brown family, though.

i don't see that stuff happening any time soon, but it could. that's pretty much the reason i wouldn't ever get a panthers tattoo.
