Exactly, Foster worked his ass off, played hard, and was never in legal trouble, that's all I can ask. The dude had horrible injury "luck" that probably handicapped a potentially bright career, not his fault though.

You know, Foster's greatest legacy might have been his treatment of Williams. I think it was obvious to Foster that Williams was the better back--even that he might be on his way out because of it--but never did he treat Williams with any ill will. Williams has credited Foster several times with his development.

And now we're experiencing that camaraderie once again, as Williams takes the rookie Stewart under his own wing. People seem to forget the great seasons Foster had for us. Whether he simply faded into mediocrity or the coaches never used him correctly is besides the point; he gave the team his all and that's all anyone could ask of him.

Without injuries, Foster could have been huge

He and Davis was the reason we didnt make the Superbowl in 05. He ran well that year season wise and two games in the playoffs, till he got injured

that's an interesting theory. But Goings stands in his way, and he's a special teamer on top. I could see it happen though. Maybe one of those one-day retirement deals.

I can't bash Foster, he tried pretty hard and that was why he fumbled a lot. He didn't have much of a line either.

You can't do that to a guy who came back from injury so many times to play for us. I wish he would have some success

Same here, and I thought he might have been a good match spelling Frank Gore. And he still might. It seems like Foster's received a bit more playing time recently, so maybe Singletary sees something in him.

I think Gore and Foster could be a decent pair, if they had a decent line in front of them.

I think he would have done pretty well in his prime running behind Otah Monday Night. The fumbles are a different matter.

Me too. Can't people stop laughing & bashing Foster? He isn't here anymore, so someone should drop the trash talking about him. He done a lot for us the first few seasons, before injuries mess him up. He really wasn't the same anymore since that injury against the Bears in the '05 Playoffs. If he & Davis never has any injuries problems during their time here, things might have been different. Heck, we might have never gotten Williams & Stewart in the first place.

I am glad to see so many in here refusing to talk teh smack about Foster.

Guy was a great teammate who did everything asked of him. I don't understand people reveling in his status with SF.
