A TE you say? Think about it. Hurney's best picks in the 2nd round are when he goes BPA rather than for need. Assuming we go OLB in the 1st round we'll likely be picking in the top 8-10 picks of the 2nd round without a clear cut 'must pick a ____' direction in the 2nd and Dwayne Allen could very well be there for us.

Normally I wouldn't even consider this, but it makes sense when you think about it. First off, he's the best TE in the draft by far, fits the offense well, even blocks well. Chud has designed an offense that uses essentially two starting TE's and we'll only have one after this season.

Shockey is a FA and old as well. Barnidge is actually a FA as well next offseason, which I haven't heard brought up much, but he is. This leaves us with only Olsen & Hartstock. We're going to have to find that long-term replacement for Shockey for the #2 TE role and if Allen is sitting there he could be awfully tough to pass up, even if we do have much bigger needs.

I completely agree. If we are somehow able to trade down and pick up someone at a good value in the first round at a position of need as well as pick up another pick(s) then I would like that. Even as a Gamecock and how much I hate Clemson, I have always respected Allen's game. He and Watkins are the only two that I would like on our team (and Watkins is only a freshman).

I believe it will probably be BPA. I'm seeing many mocks right now with us taking alameda ta'amu in the 2nd.

If Ta'amu is there then yes, but that's a long shot, IMO. Allen is a more realistic BPA scenario.

I think the team brings back Barnidge for next season as the second TE.

I'm not an NC State fan so don't call me a homer but I've seen Audie Cole climbing the big boards this season, hes been mentioned as a potential early 2nd round pick.
