Q about Peppers situation.

Why is it no one can post a thread without someone being a smartass. I thought the post Carolinarollswas an opinion and a valid comment. Some folks (Peppers90 NC) just have to throw some negativity to a decent thread.

I guess he is the noted authority on the NFL and the Carolina Panthers. And that gives him the right to say anyone doesn't get it. I personally understand both side.

Tagging Peppers has limited us in what we have done in the offseason. Whether we would have signed someone or not. Tagging Peppers has put us in a position where we cannot sign anyone. Fox and Hurney over the years have been quite good at bring in bargain players that have excelled. Tagging Peppers has prevented them from doing ANYTHING. So the comment "Why they tagged him to begin with is beyond me" is a very valid point.

I am one to believe we cannot let Peppers go without compensation. At very minimum we should get two 2nd round picks. If we take one 2nd round pick for him then I believe Carolinarolls has a valid point. We lost Peppers for a 2nd round player when we automatically get a 3rd for compensation. But we lost alot potential players that could of helped us.

So yes Pepper90 NC you are a "Senior Member" whatever that means. But by no means does it give you the opportunity to question someone elses belief or concerns in such a negative and nasty way. The negativity is why some people stop coming to OUR FORUM because know-it-alls like you degrade others.

Go Panthers

First of all if this valid point has already been part of a 15 page diatribe in a Peppers thread so it just being repeated again. Secondly the tender issue and what happens if he doesn't sign it was discussed when he was first franchised.

And we have already said we won't take a single second rounder in the draft for him so until that happens it a moot point and hardly worth arguing about.

Additionally we wouldn't have been very active whether or not we traded Peppers or not. We can't be prevented from getting multiple players when we weren't going to do it anyway. Holding on to Lucas for a low round draft pick and waiting to negotiate with Jake all suggest we aren't in that much hurry to free up cap space or we would have done it sooner. The front office seems less impatient and less ready to do something compared to many people on this message board. So to say we have been preventing from doing something by franchising Peppers when we initiated it and then proceeded very slowly about it, doesn't sound correct to me. We are proceeding according to the plan. This is a prison of our design so it hardly feels like it is a huge problem. Could it have gone easier? Of course. But they have been deaing with Peppers for some time so they must have known this was not going to be a an easy situation.

If he's inactive and sits whole games instead of series here and there does it make that of a difference? If a tree falls in the middle of the woods does anyone hear it?

I realize your being sarcastic, but the truth is when he is on the field he makes a difference. Teams have to account for him at all times, and he makes plays. Now maybe he doesn't give it his all on every play which is a shame, but he does make a big difference.
