Q about Peppers situation.

I had asked douche bag yasinskas similar questions, but he didn't answer.

Does the tender that the panthers offer expire, on Peppers' side? I mean, theoretically, if there is no expire date, and he doesnt sign it until mid season, what would happen to his contract? would it be prorated? I assume he can't get fined for missing camps/preseason because he has never signed a contract. If it got to this point (or even post-draft, camp time), don't you think the panthers will just be forced to drop him considering:

1- They need to sign draft picks

2- They can't negotiate with other teams until he signs it

And this is what Peppers wants right? To be let go with no strings attached. This entire franchise process seems really flawed for Peppers' case, there should definitely be a date he has to either agree to sign it and play the year, or forfeit his right to play in the NFL that entire year. This would avoid situations like this, as he is definitely crippling the panthers.

IF he doesn't sign it, the tag expires after the tenth game of the season...meaning his tender amount of 16.8 million would go off the books after that. He would still stay on the panthers roster though, just be nonactive.

We have enough to sign draft picks even if he stays or doesn't sign. But as for bringing in some free agents as well...nope. Maybe one or two, if that. We have our team, but depth is a very nice thing to have. Injuries happen every year.

Where is the risk?

This has been labelled as one of the worst ever free agency classes, especially in the last 5 or so years. So who would we have got from that?

Considering where we are picking in the draft, we also do not need big bucks for our draftees.

In addition we could get some real nice compensation if he does move on.

If he doesnt move on, I would guess it is mainly because HE has been too specific and that could give him a HUGE reality check.

It was a genuine, non-retarded, non-basic question that not everyone knows the answer to. I wouldn't ask something that has obviously already been answered multiple times.
