How did you get the 2012 draft class?

Downloaded the correctly named rosters for NCAA 12, simmed through dynasty mode and exported the draft class at the end of each of the first four seasons. If you do a Google search you'll find certain XBL/PSN users have the NCAA rosters uploaded to roster share and you can get the real players into NCAA rather than the fake names they use normally.

I'm actually working on getting a new set of rosters featuring some of the current top high school recruits in NCAA that will hopefully give me another 2-3 years worth of real players to export into Madden.

LEAGUE STORYLINES - WEEK 3:

Panthers: Bye week a chance to get back to 2011 form for Cam Newton.

Falcons: Big win against the Giants, but at 1-3 it's a tough road to the playoffs. RB has quickly shot to the top of the Falcons draft needs next offseason.

Buccaneers: Huge win against the Saints has Bucs at .500 with momentum heading into big week 5 re-match against undefeated Panthers.

Saints: 2-2 feels completely different for Saints than it does for Bucs. This team is better than they're playing.

49ers: What a difference a year makes. They're losing close, but they're still losing and 0-4 is 0-4. The run game needs to get back on track to give Colin Keapernick a chance.

Rams: Suddenly this team, lead by Sam Bradford, is playing very well.

Cardinals: Sure, they played the Packers tough, but at this point it'd take a miracle turnaround to save Ken Whisenhunt.

Seahawks: Very quietly two rookie stars have brought hope - and an unexpected 3-1 start - to the pacific northwest.

Cowboys: Could we be seeing Tony Romo's last days in big D?

Eagles: Minus garbage time stats, Mike Vick had an awful game against Baltimore. First one he's had this season.

Redskins: Matt Barkley looks to continue hot streak coming off bye at 3-0, though the RB situation is a mess. It wouldn't be a shock to see 'Skins make a trade prior to the deadline next week.

Giants: Falcons game was closer than score indicated, but this team seems to have forgotten how to win. At 0-4 Tom Coughlin could be feeling the heat soon.

Packers: Record-wise they're still very much alive, but they just don't look like themselves right now.

Bears: An ugly loss to the rookie-lead Seahawks in every way. Matt Forte continues to disappoint; you have to wonder if contract situation is a distraction.

Lions: It wasn't pretty, but that was a big win over the Texans. Mikel LeShoure has given this offense some long-needed balance.

Vikings: Is anyone more important to their team's success right now than Adrian Peterson? He's literally carried the Vikes on his back to 4-0. MVP?

Patriots: Big bounce-back game, but another big test against Buffalo this weekend.

Jets: Good time for a bye to fix some lingering issues, but a tough test this week as Rex Ryan's crew head to KC to face the 3-1 Chiefs.

Bills: Fred Jackson is playing well, but the Bills need Ryan Fitzpatrick to step up if they plan to make any serious noise this season.

Dolphins: Now that's the Andrew Luck we've been waiting to see!

Colts: There's a lot more wrong with this team than Peyton Manning being rusty and it's going to take a lot more than Manning to fix this team in the long run.

Texans: Tough loss to Lions, but the way the AFC South is looking the Texans are still in good shape stop the division.

Jaguars: At what point does this new coaching staff admit that Blaine Gabbert has yet to look like an NFL QB at any point so far this season?

Titans: Another game or two like this for Jake Locker and the Titans will be forced to go back to Matt Hasselbeck at QB.

Browns: Looks like all that time on the bench motivated Colt McCoy if nothing else.

Steelers: The defense clearly misses Troy Polamalu. Big test at Oakland next week in a battle of 3-1 teams.

Ravens: Joe Flacco may be earning that contract extension finally after all...

Bengals: Even in defeat Trent Richardson simply doesn't look human.

Raiders: With Carson Palmer - not to mention the defense - playing at a high level, this team is scary balanced.

Chargers: How flat can a team be heading into a crucial division game on the road? I think the Chargers just answered that. Hot seat, meet Norv Turner. Again.

Chiefs: Todd Haley might just be saving his job, but Chiefs have to stay consistent.

Broncos: Just when you 're about to leave John Fox and the Broncos for dead... though it's understandable given the style of offense they run.

LEAGUE STORYLINES - WEEK 5:

Panthers: Unlike last year, they're winning the close games this season. Cam Newton not playing poorly, but needs to cut down on turnovers.

Falcons: The Falcons offense simply isn't built to produce without a back that can carry Michael Turner's load and still produce. Rookie Doug Martin doesn't appear to be the answer.

Buccaneers: Pretty soon Josh Freeman is going to have to stop living off 2010 and do something worthwhile when it matters. He had the ball, down 7, with 1:50 to play and 3 timeouts and looked lost, going 3-and-out to seal the game.

Saints: Again, their record says they're in the hunt, but they're just not playing at the level they're capable of. It all starts with Drew Brees. Too many close games against inferior teams.

49ers: Not a bad day for Colin Keapernick, but it was the return of the running game that sparked the 49ers first win of the season.

Rams: The Rams had the misfortune to be the first team to face the Packers when they finally put it all together.

Cardinals: The sad part is Kevin Kolb might be the only reason they're even as competitive as they are...

Seahawks: Perfectly-timed bye gives 'Hawks 2 weeks to prepare for big game in Foxboro.

Cowboys: Is it possible Tony Romo might actually be benched? He's playing that bad, but the coaching staff is even worse.

Eagles: Big win against a quality opponent. Eagles finally starting to play up to their talent/hype.

Redskins: This was far from Matt Barkley's best game so far, but he did enough to beat a bad Dallas team to keep the 'Skins undefeated.

Giants: Finally, the Giants actually win a close game.

Packers: Can they keep this up? If so they're the best team in football.

Bears: Beating the Cardinals isn't anything to brag about, but a win is a win.

Lions: Time to address the offensive line with more than aging veterans and day 2 draft picks.

Vikings: This team reminds me of last year's 49ers: a surprise team that, once you watch them play, you wonder why they were ever overlooked to begin with.

Patriots: Big division win at home, but you expect nothing else from Brady and co.

Jets: The defense returns to form, but it's clear the RB situation needs to be addressed in the offseason as neither Shonn Greene or LaDainian Tomlinson seems capable of being a featured back at this point.

Bills: How nervous are the Bills right now with the way Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing? That's a lot of money to invest in a guy who is playing like a below average backup QB.

Dolphins: Andrew Luck comes back down to earth after his big game.

Colts: A lot to fix during bye week.

Texans: They better hope Matt Schaub isn't out long because the Colts could catch on at any time if Manning returns to form.

Jaguars: It's really not fair for this defense to go it alone out there. Not even MJD can do much against the 8-9 man fronts he's seeing. Blaine Gabbert has got to step up or else...

Titans: Titans hope Jake Locker wakes up following bye.

Browns: Maybe the Browns gave up on Colt McCoy too soon?

Steelers: Tough loss to Oakland, but I'm thinking the Steelers will get another shot at the silver & black before it's all said and done.

Bengals: They put up a fight, but were simply out-matched by the Eagles. Still a lot of good, young talent on this squad.

Question: How do get the draft classes to be so accurate? Do you use madden's draft or NCAA's draft class?

NCAA, but I had to do some work to get it just right. I took all the juniors who are expected to come out and made them redshirt seniors in NCAA so the game had no choice but to export them, for one.

Then I just ignored Madden's 'projected round' system. Since I control all 32 teams, I just drafted guys where they're currently being projected to go (with some room for rising/falling players over the next few months) and since Madden now allows you to edit player's ratings in franchise mode, I just took any players whose ratings didn't match their draft position and raised/lowered their ratings accordingly.

Finally, the draft class wasn't perfect. There are some guys who I had never heard of included and a few guys left out, but what I did was make a list of those players and just didn't draft the ones I didn't recognize OR would match race/height/weight with them and a player that wasn't included and change the player's name/position/ratings after the draft. With anyone who wasn't included that there wasn't a match for I found one of EA's randomly-generated UDFA's and re-named/edited them to match. I also did this for some of the more well-known UDFA's not included in the draft class file.

I just had to keep a notepad file of which players to edit/change/find a UDFA for so I wouldn't forget. It probably sounds like more work than it was, but the results turned out pretty well, IMO. Although I doubt it'd work nearly as well if you're not controlling all 32 teams - or at least drafting for all 32 teams.

Once I'm done with year 4 I'm going to look into getting some NCAA rosters featuring the top junior/senior high school recruits so I can export a brand new set of draft classes and run this another 3-4 seasons.

I've been simming a Panther franchise. Unfortunately I know how to exploit the draft so I sim 16-0 superbowl winning seasons pretty much all the time.

I typically have 20 first round picks every season because of the low value of future firsts and my ability to dig up the best players not in round 1. Madden's trade logic is retarded.
