Chud on NFL.com's radar for HC positions

Chud has yet to prove he is a great OC. In Cleveland he had a good year and then they fell apart. So far he is off to a good start but by no means established as a great offensive mind. Also there are a bunch of guys who are good coordinators who don't end being good head coaches. Talk about him being head coach material at this point is rather premature.

Even if he leaves we have his playbook. I am sure one of the assistants has learned enough from this year to carry it off. It is his play designs that are good. His playcalling has not been that stellar.

Either way we will be fine. But I doubt he leaves for a while. he will want to have some success before embarking on his own to a place like Miami which has a crazy owner and little talent. There is a reason other folks have tuned it down.

So much was made of that ONE bad season in Cleveland but you got understand that most of that was solely on Crennel. They should of stuck with Anderson. The fact is that since his coaching days at Miami, a lot of teams respect him and consider him one of the beightest young minds coaching today. Plus it didn't hurt that he coached under Turner. Many actually thought he matured a lot under him. I don't know if anyone actually remembers he was actually offered a HC position with Baltimore prior to the 2008 season.

Not for head coach. You have to get permission on a lateral move but not for a head coach job.

Didn't know that......thought all had to get the okay. So asking is just a technicality? We asked permission for Rob Ryan And Munusky

I think the Cam effect is going to have lots of Front Offices looking for a HC to consider giving him a call; which is why I thought the article was interesting since two NFL.com journalists are thinking so as well. However I'm not sure if he has a head coach persona; but I guess Norv Turner doesn't really either.

But the point remains that he has not had any significant success as an OC. It is true that being with Turner actually gave him experience on a winning team with a high powered offense.

I didn't remember about Baltimore either....

I just think that being a head coach and managing all the people can be a very different skill set that being a coordinator. I don't know much about his people skills yet.

He won't be hired away after one year, just a year removed from being a tight ends coach.

As for some kind of loyalty or something, if you have a chance to be a HC you have to take it, that's pretty much all there is to it. This is a job that there are only 32 of in the whole world, if it's your aspiration to someday be an NFL head coach (and for most coordinators it is) you don't pass up what might be your only opportunity. I hope if he leaves after a few years people don't have any hard feelings about it.

I don't agree that they don't care about the players, but it simply doesn't matter. They might be sad to leave their players and co-workers in the coaching staff, but in the grand scheme they have to.

Bye week midway through the season on a 2-6 team and a whole half a season left to play I'm not concerned about this at all. After next year when we hopefully attain a winning record then perhaps some interest will come up.

Lol @ TRD and Grits doing their best chicken little impression.

The same guys who preach winning is all that matters want you to be worried that a first year oc on a losing team will be offered a magical hc position. Ooook.

Hey donk, I said there is no way he gets an offer.

I said IF, IF, IF, IF he does, he's gone. There is no such thing as loyalty or contractually obligated in the NFL.

If he gets an offer hell yeah he's gone. Lol at people thinking he would turn down a HC job just to stick with Cam. I think he would do a good job in Miami and i also believe its a mistake for them to go after the "big name." When has that ever worked out? Maybe Dick Vermeil but he wasn't a huge name at the time.
