I love Broyles, but I'm an OU fan.

We have to stop the bleeding on D though.

I thnk Brandon Thompson can come in as a rookie and play....we don't need to hold out hope that 3rd rounders will be the answer. I thought one of the 2 would have shown a little more by now.

I think McClain has played well, both need a full offseason workout program and more time in the system. I know Zod agrees.

You guys that want the panthers to draft a WR should take a look at Nick Toon out of Wisconsin and Ryan Broyles from OU. These guys have potential to become the number 1 WR after Smitty leaves or even Smitty goes in the slot. Smitty also says he wants to move to slot so he can Prolong his career. Also we can get one of these guys in the second round.

You guys are talking about Blackmon like hes Calvin Johnson or something. Have you watched him this year? He hasn't been close to as impressive as he was last year. Last year he was going for plays over 30 yards one or two times a game. This year hes had exactly two plays over 30 yards both against subpar defenses in Baylor and iirc Texas Tech. He profiles more as a Reggie Wayne, Greg Jennings, Hakeem Nicks possession type WR then a Fitzgerald, CJ, AJ type freak. Hes still a #1 WR and a very good player but not a freak. I've seen some people on a draft forum I read say he could fall out of the top 10. Bottom line is we are halfway through the season and still have the combine and offseason to determine who we are going to pick. Odds are there will be a handful of guys who we aren't even talking about that are going to rise into the top 15 overall prospects and we'll be gushing about them months from now, on the flipside a lot of the guys we are talking about are going to fall out of the top 20 prospects.

We already have one of those in Lafell.

i would actually say we already have one of those in Gettis. Floyd and Jackson in SD are both 6'5", 230ish. Lafell is 6'2", 210. different profile. I probably would bet against a WR being drafted before the 5th round or so, since there's young talent there and they went and got Pilares last draft. but, in the case that they do, I would peg a tall guy with long-stride speed as the kind of guy they would go for, and in the absence of a no-brainer AJ Green type falling to them, it'd likely be a mid-round project (though Floyd was undrafted, IIRC).

Broyles is too small. The same thing was said about Smitty, of course, but who knows if Broyles has the drive Smitty has.

We need defense. Badly. Sure, Beason is going to come back, and we're going to have Ron Edwards back, along with Fua and McClain with a year of experience, but, we need need to stop the opposing team.

Cam, and this offense, have proven they can score with almost anyone. We just need a defensive piece or two that can stop the other team on third down.

Brown, Burfict, Te'o, Kirkpatrick, or Jenkins.

We need to be hoping this happens then.
