Thomas Davis will return to the Panthers...

OLB is probably our single biggest need, I don't are if we spend a top 5 pick on filling that hole.

See, now that's just crazy. We need one, sure, but OLB is far from an impact position in a 4-3 defense and passing over better overall players to fill a need at a lesser position is just crazy.

I'd be all for Zach Brown in the 10-15 range, but no higher. He's not even THAT good of a prospect; a 20-ish range linebacker; I don't ever see him being an elite player in the NFL. Good, yes, but not great. I'd just assume sign a solid veteran free agent as insurance for Davis and take the BPA between WR, DT, OT, and if need be CB, though I think we're alright there personally.

Honestly, I don't like Brown that much more than most of the currently projected 2nd round prospects at OLB.

Byron Bell? Do you watch Panthers games?

Jordan Gross is 32 years old. I doubt a VHT OT would replace him at LT in 4 or 5 years. Probably 1 year at most, allowing Gross back over to the RT.

Oh. OH. You're talking about Otah?! Ahhh...this again..

Sigh.

Some of just aren't going to get it until you see it happen. Even then, you'll probably get angry at the FO for "ignoring" the OT position.

Alright. Lemme give you a little glimpse of the future.

I don't get what your point is here, but if anyone is "ignoring" the OT situation it's you. Otah is the biggest ? on the team and this guy, sadly, appears he doesn't have the body/conditioning/luck to play in the NFL.

And I could care less if Ryan is Matt's little bro. He could be Mike Vick's bro for all I care but the guy is arguably the best OT in NCAA and has pro coaching, facilities, and blood lines to succeed at the next level.

Again, I realize that a lot of fans want a sexy pick but OT is clearly the biggest need IN THE DRAFT. No need to pass up on one of these players just to draft a OLB or DT that doesn't warrant a top 10 pick.

Trade down if possible, pick up BPA in from DT or CB.

I don't see O-line as a huge need.

We need a game changer DT or NT. We need our next Kris Jenkins.

I think we have him in McClain personally.

DT's just don't produce their first year, not sure why this is so hard to accept. I think we'll be ok at DT going into next season.

I don't have CB as a need either considering the play of our top three guys and the prospect we have in Hogan.

I been going through a long process of who the Panthers will look at or should take for the draft. Usually I am right most of the time, but this year is kind of tricky due to the fact our defense sucks. There is no sure prospect in this draft that says to me, if we get this guy he will have a instant impact on D. The only guy does is Burfict.

I looked back at Ron Rivera press conference on the bye week this week. He was mostly talking about the rookie wall for guys like sione fua and others. In that press conference he said Fua is our future and he want to protect him and other rookies like mclain and Brandon Hogan. So it got me thinking we wont address the defensive line this year, because he want to see if those guys can developed. Also thinking we will have a solid rotation when Ron edwards return. So if i have to bet me whole college refund check on the 2012 draft, it will be on a LB or OT. But I see LB as the biggest need. If we are in place and a good OT is on Board like Matt kalil or Johnthan Martin we will take them, if not we will go LB.

So our best hope is to pray that Martin comes out because Kalil goes in the top 5. If we are picking in the 6-12 range, what i see planning out more likely we could get Martin or we could get a stud LB like Burfict. If those guys are gone we could probably trade out or go best player like maybe a CB or WR.

I think 2012 corps will be.

Beason/Anderson/Davis/Thomas Williams/Omar Gaither/Jason Philips/4th or later draft pick.

that might be the depth chart entering the 1st preseason game. Davis is done. He won't play next season.

His body has said it loud and clear......Carolina should step up for Davis on good and say it's over. Athletes too often refuse to accept reality

lol. You create an entire response to my initial post and you completely whiff on the point. You continue to ramble on about Otah's injury history and other crap, but you still miss the point.

Byron Bell has played at a good enough level that the FO wants him as the future. It doesn't matter if you disagree with it. It doesn't matter if you don't like it. The coaching staff loves him as a player, and as said before and you ignored, his play warrants their praise. Anyone who actually watches the games would see this. More than likely your opinion of Bell is something along the lines of:

"herp derp he's had a penalty in three straight game you moron herp need Ryan's brother herp derp"

I challenge you to rewatch the game and focus on Bell's play before making any more misinformed opinionated remarks about our OT situation. You're too stubborn to let it change your opinion, but at least deep down it will be easier for you to accept when we pass on Ryan's brother come April now that you are armed with a proper evaluation of the situation.

I'm not rambling about Otah's injury. It SHOULD be a major concern to anyone who intelligently follows the team.

I'm not sure who "Herp Derp" is, but when your little sister gets off the computer let me know.

We don't need to HOPE to be okay at DT. Which is probably the second most pivotal position on the defense, behind DE. We need a great DT, especially one that is going to be motivated to get a big contract with the rookie wage scale.

Honestly, we just need to just take the BPA of a few positions.

With the passing game becoming more and more important, we need players who can stop other offenses.

Linebackers are just not as important as defensive line, plus with the players coming back we will be at worst just be okay there.

Now, if there is a Revis available, you take him, those players are franchise changers.

IMO, the only type of players you spend top 10 picks on are QB, LT, DT/DE, QB, or CB. No other position is worthy, again in my opinion.
